posts is blank after changing base url

The site is temporarily being continuously deployed by netlify from the URL https://laughing-cray-e2c0db.netlify.com/

When I changed the base URL in config.toml from http://joelnitta.com/ to https://laughing-cray-e2c0db.netlify.com/ (see commit below), only "Recent Posts" disappeared from the page (other content is unchanged). The page also builds clean on my local RStudio session with blogdown:::serve_site(). Since this only affects "recent posts", I'm guessing it has something to do with Academic, not netlify? At any rate I will need to change base URL again when I make it point to joelnitta.com
