The widget is no longer updating when reputation/badges change. It appears that the v1.x API that the widget used has been disabled by Stack Exchange and the widget needs to use the new v2.x API instead.

For example, the URLs currently used by the widget look like this:

http://api.stackoverflow.com/1.1/users/22656

The URLs used by the new API like this:

https://api.stackexchange.com/2.2/users/22656?site=stackoverflow

Attempting to use the new URLs with the current widget results in a "couldn't download user flair" message (perhaps related to using https instead of plain http?).
