Consul check fail monitoring agent

Consul-pager is a consul check monitoring agent.

It currently only supports notification via Slack channels.

Usage

You must be running a consul agent listening to localhost:8500. To start the monitoring agent type:

consul-pager <global options> start -config config.yaml

GLOBAL OPTIONS:
   --address '127.0.0.1:8500'	consul address
   --dc 			consul datacenter
   --token 			consul token

The configuration file should look like:

channels:
  MySlackChannel:
    channeli:
      subdomain: bbbbb
      token: bbbbbbb
      channel: '#consul'
      user: consul-pager
  MySlackChannel2:
    channeli:
      subdomain: xxxxxxxxx
      token: xxxxxxxxxx
      channel: '#consul'
      user: consul-pager2
defaultmaturity: 30s

Channels holds an array of notification channels and defaultmaturity holds the interval that a check must fail before a notification is sent.

You can easily add checks with:

consul-alert addcheck -name a_check_name -interval 10s -script "ping -c 1 localhost"

If you need redundancy just run consul-pager in more nodes. Consul-pager will select a random leader from all the available candidates.

Just download and run executables at https://github.com/jmcarbo/consul-pager/releases
