Hi @nasht00, at first glance I'd suspect that contacts.vcf is not actually utf-8 encoded, but iso-8859-1, win-1252, utf-16, or something else. I think you should be able to see the encoding of it somewhere in VS Code (?).
If that's the case, then you'd have to transcode the VCF to utf-8 before parsing it with vcf
from node-vcf.

I figured it out (although not fully understand).
I am now reading the original vcf as utf8, while exporting the new one as ucs2. It looks like Google handles ucs2 better for some reason...
