Advect1d

Advect1d is a 1-D advection code, used for advecting solar wind data from L1 to Earth.

Getting started

Prerequisites

• python 2.7 (or greater)
• spacepy
• dateutil

Running

To run the advection solver, run

python advect_imf.py

This downloads a short period of DSCOVR solar wind data from CDAWeb, and then advects it to the Earth. It will take several minutes. Output will be written to advected.h5.

To plot the results, run

python plot_imf.py

A plot showing solar wind variables from OMNI and from advect1d should display.

advect1d's Issues

Zenodo integration and DOI assignment

AGU's open data policy (which includes software) needs software that folks are using to be citable. For open-source software, the github repository is not sufficent (well, some editors will let it slide still).

So can I ask @jhaiduce to:

1. Enable Zenodo integration for this repo
2. Make a release from the last commit
3. Make sure the metadata over at Zenodo is intelligible (real names instead of github usernames, date that corresponds to commit not sync, etc.)

And then I'll be in touch separately about whether or not you think co-authorship is warranted...
