Perfect project, just what I needed to make some nice keyboard shortcuts with my PyPortal Titano!

The signature for the adafruit_hid library seems to have changed since you made the project, but it is pretty easy to fix

import usb_hid
from adafruit_hid.keyboard import Keyboard
from adafruit_hid.keycode import Keycode

keyboard_active = False

#Initiallize the Keyboard
try:
kbd = Keyboard(usb_hid.devices)
keyboard_active = True
except OSError:
keyboard_active = False
