I was trying to correct an error I noticed an a part I downloaded (Changing a
racial ability bonus, as it happens), and when I run with v1.1.5, the changes
are not applied.
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The previous racial ability bonus remains. Combined.dnd40.part is empty,
combined.dnd40 does not show the change - indeed, it does not show any changes
since before I downloaded v1.1.5
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
v1.1.5, WinXP. I had to hard patch back when the option was first made
available.
Rolling back to 1.1.4 =)

Wow, that was just over an hour of hand-merging (and a bit of added
documentation).
Attached is a diff with most of my modifications to the source. I dropped my
version of multi-part merging, and have also dropped a few pieces that that
were made obselete by ability to have multiple folders. Other than that, all my
modifications are in there.

Hello again, I know I am new here, however I would like to make a suggestion as
it has been in my mind (and no doubt in several other users/players) for some
time.
I wish to suggest a "Hybrid-Race" option in the Race tab of Character builder,
I think it could work on the same principals as the "Hybrid-Class" option in
the class Tab, where you may take one aspect of one race and merge it with
another, if you would like i can also provide some fairly humorous "flavor
text" for the selection screen.
Thank you for your time.
Keep up the good work!
P.S. I also noticed a lot of the new races have the same photo for them (the
green gnoll picture) i dont suppose you will have more accurate pictures in a
future update will you?

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Take a fresh installation of the Character Builder with the October 2010
Update.
2. Extract the CBLoader 1.1.6 files into the Character Builder Directory (note
that I do not have a CharBuilderFull_p directory).
3. Run CBLoader.exe. Nothing happens. Not even with -v.
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect to see some output from the program. Instead, I see nothing. Character
Builder can be launched normally via CharacterBuilder.exe.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1.1.6, Windows XP SP3 (32 bit).
Please provide any additional information below.
It's really strange. I see no errors or anything else that could conceivably
help me understand what's going on here. Specifying invalid options does
nothing.
Running CBLoader.exe -h also produces no output, which seems to indicate
there's either a serious problem with the executable, or with my machine.

1. Updated to 1.6
2. Added new file
3. Saw bug (bad XML), edited file to fix bug
4. Now I can get that file to remerge
I've used -e, the config file...
Other custom content is merged, but the elements in that one changed file will
not show up.
When the XML was bad on one element, the prior elements worked. Now no
elements from that file work.

only load up a command prompt window, telling me that

I am a total noob when it comes to coding, but editing in Notebook++ seemed
easy enough. I wanted to create a half-drow race, so I edited a copy of the
half-elf information found in the combined.dnd40.main file. I changed all the
appropriate racial traits, etc in a separate .part file. CBLoader merged the
two files without error, but I still do not see half-drow among the race
choices. Half-Elf is still there, and unaffected by the changes I made when
creating the half-drow file. Why can't I see half-drow?

+1/+3/+5. This is also reflected in the Character Sheet, under a MISC column in
the Fortitude row.

I use Dropbox to keep things synchronized between computers with the builder.
(For example, my "Saved Characters" directory gets pointed into my dropbox
folder.
It would be nice to keep the Custom folder synchronized the same way.
Obviously I could make a symlink, but XP doesn't come with any native utility
to create symlinks. A shortcut seems the more natural way, but that requires
special handling from the application, apparently.
I created a shortcut called "Custom". When I run the loader I get "Could not
find a part of the path 'C:\Program File\Wizards of the Coast\Character

Could using a shortcut for the custom directory be supported?

2. I ran CBloader.
3. The file merged without errors, but then Character Builder threw an

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
CBloader should catch bad code like this and quit before it causes this kind of harm! I had already reinstalled CB and tracked down the problem code before thinking to try re-merging with good code and seeing if the Character Builder would run again... but even if you can fix it that way, this is kinda dramatic.

I'm completely ignorant on how to use cbloader. I play LFR and would love to
use cbloader to bring in the Essentials and other new books that are available.
I run cbloader, that I placed into my CB directory, but only get the old db
(e.g., I can't located Superior Will).
Where are the rule updates that people are writing?
How do I download them? How do I use (load) them?
I recently purchased a new Win7 computer and can only use the Silverlight web
ap. Yes, I do have a paid subscription with WOTC. Like most people, I
strongly prefer the old computer version to the alpha version web ap program.
Is there a way to port the old CB with cbloader into my new computer, without
hand entering all the registry entries?
In any case, thank you for your patience.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Create a new druid
2. Select Primal Guardian as your class feature
3. Set your level to 3
4. You can take the Primal Guardian (theme) utility as your level 2 druid
utility.
5. You cannot pick a Primal Guardian (theme) power for your level 3 encounter
if your level 1 encounter power has not been chosen.
6. However, if you pick anything for your level 1 druid encounter power, a
Primal Guardian (theme) power now becomes available to be selected.
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expected only to see druid utilities available since I never picked this
theme.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
CBLoader 1.1.6 on Windows 7 64 bit. I last updated my WOTC Mod files on

NOTES:
I've looked inside of the app.config file and the CharacterBuilder.exe.config

I'd prefer to have the app stop calling WotC. Additionally, I have tried to

can't seem to prevent it via Firewall settings.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Have a RulesElement in one .part with code something like this:
<RulesElement name="Awesome Bonus" type="Internal"
internal-id="ID_INTERNAL_INTERNAL_AWESOME_BONUS" source="SabreCat" >
<specific name="_SupportsID"> ID_ESJ_FEAT_7776 </specific>
<rules>

<statadd name="Awesome Bonus" value="+1" requires="Paragon Tier" />
<statadd name="Awesome Bonus" value="+1" requires="Epic Tier" />
<statadd name="Fisticuffs:damage" value="+Awesome Bonus" type="Feat" requires="Weapon Proficiency (Fisticuffs) proficiency" />
</rules>
</RulesElement>
2. In another .part, use AppendNodes like so:
<AppendNodes name="Awesome Bonus" type="Internal"
internal-id="ID_INTERNAL_INTERNAL_AWESOME_BONUS" source="SabreCat" >
<rules>
<statadd name="Pugilism:damage" value="+Awesome Bonus" type="Feat" requires="Weapon Proficiency (Pugilism) proficiency" />
</rules>
</AppendNodes>
3. Merge your file.
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I would expect the append to follow the path of the original node before adding its components, picking up the value of "Awesome Bonus" along the way. Instead, CBloader throws an error saying that the value of "value" cannot be null.

At the moment, CBLoader uses a lot of Command Line Arguments, and I know that I
have a shortcut with way too many flags. (In fact, I have three of them)
I'm proposing that CBLoader could load config files in addition to the current
method of flags.
ie:
<config>
<folder> custom </folder>
<folder> "%userprofile%\Documents\My Dropbox\cbloader\MyCampaignWorld" </folder>
<folder> SAcontent </folder>
<keyfile> Keyfile.key </keyfile>

So I just loaded up the Modded CB loader(loving it By the way.. so much more
stuff!! keep it coming!!!)
any way when i went through a quick build run (Just selecting classes and races
to see what the new stats are)
I clicked on the Race tab
I came across the Race of "Ooze".
I clicked on it and then a window popped up saying "This program has stopped
working would you like to send an error report to Windows?" and then closed
Character Builder all together.
I tried several times to select the Ooze race, but the same thing happened and
i was promptly booted out 5 times before i gave up.
This is a minor issue so NO HURRY. i doubt many people will select Ooze as a

I would expect the "08" and "09" files to merge between "07" and "10", for the
files without prepended numbers to go "Hallowdwell" (my home campaign, heh),
"XXXXXXXX", "YYYYYYYYY", and combined.dnd40.part to come last. Instead, we get
the above. This causes problems--a node of "XXXXXXXX" is Appended by
"YYYYYYYY", meaning that update doesn't function.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Add an AppendNodes for a weapon that includes
<specific name="InternalOnly"> 1 </specific>
2. Merge your file
3. Go to the Shop tab. The weapon is still available for purchase.
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Looking at the combined.dnd40 file, instead of the specific getting set to 1, it comes out like <specific name="InternalOnly" />, missing its value.

These are program enhancements, but pertain to the original Builder.
1. Creating a "rod implement" object that CB recognizes. We believe that
"staff implement" is currently hard coded into the Builder. This is for the
Rod Expertise feat.
2. Superior ki foci do not work.
Thanks in advance.

I'd like to request a new feature; the ability to merge two or more part files
into a single part file independent of the content from the character builder
itself.
Ideally, you'd be able to take a series of small parts, even as small as a
single power or the versions of a single item, from an input folder and merge
them all into a single new part with an arbitrary name in an output folder,
with the new large part file containing no content not in the input folder.
This would allow teams of authors to have separate responsibilities in a
project that would then be merged together for final testing.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Create a new folder
2. Launch CBLoader with arguments 'CBloader.exe -f NewFolder'
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
C:\Users\Stephen\Documents\My Dropbox\CharBuilderFull_p>CBLoader.exe -f

Solution:
change
fm.CustomFolders.Add(args[i++]);
to
fm.CustomFolders.Add(args[++i]);

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Install Char Builder
2. Update to Oct '10
3. Unzip CBLoader (to main folder or self-made _p folder, doesn't matter for
output)
4. Run CBLoader with the dark sun CS
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected output: CB with dark sun content.
Instead, I get the pipeline error in the CBLoader screen and the regular CB
without DS content.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1.6, on WinXP SP2
Please provide any additional information below.
I've tried -p, -e and they're not helping. I've tried messing with the
combined.part file, but it's not working... and upon uninstall of CB, that file
was gone. Running the CBLoader again does not make a new one. Output is still
the same as Oct '10.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
The latest version, Windows XP.
Please provide any additional information below.
This issue doesn't only occur with this particular power. It stopped
calculating any power's attack and damage output if the power does not have the
following tags:
<specific name="Attack">
<specific name="Hit">
Powers like "Goring Charge" or "Roots of Stone" have tags like:
<specific name=" Attack">
<specific name=" Hit">
The Character builder calculates these values nonetheless, however, when
oppened through cbloader.exe it stops making these calculations for some reason.

Currently all Appended Nodes are placed at the end of an element. This caused
issues when trying to append specifics.
This issue is to add some way of inserting a specific (or other node) somewhere
within the element (probably based on matching another line, as line numbers
are too unpredictable to be safe).
Please add your thoughts on how to do this within the markup.
Current thoughts include an inside node <after name="Hit">, or something
similar.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
Using a hard patched CB version 1.1.2, trying to use certain .part files will
cause CB to crash during the loading stage. CBLoader itself shows no errors
other than the permanently remaining 'Pipeline is not debugging. Waiting for a
debug event will hang.' error. Removing the .part in question allows the CB to
work fine again.
The specific file cannot be shared here for copyright reasons, but can be found
for testing purposes if you know where to look on SA ;) The bug seems to be
down to the changes involved in attempting to make the Hexblade implements
work, I believe. Unfortunately, I can't currently provide any more data than
that - the error message provided by the CB is singularly uninformative, simply
telling me to contact Customer Help.
This does seem to be directly related to the hard patched CB, though, since the
relevant .part is functional in a CB used without needing the hard patch.
I hope there is enough here to find a solution. I'll try to do some more
in-depth bug-hunting tomorrow.

CBLoader should have a folder for 'stable' .parts, and use them to form an
intermediate merged file.
This will mean that keeping large, but unchanged parts out of the everyday
merge process, and cause merge-times to be lower.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected CB display of item/power/feat descriptions should have less newlines.
Instead, there are multiple additions of newlines
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
V1, Windows 7 64bit
Please provide any additional information below.
On launch, the merging of main and part replaces all original newline data with
Window's newline format of CR+LF(\n\r). Hence, Character Builder is displaying
some descriptions with 2 newlines instead of 1.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Start CBloader.
2.Whether a character is loaded or not, when I close the CB I get that error.
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I assume there should be no error.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Just downloaded the CB loader today so 1.1.6 with the WotC zip .part files.
Please provide any additional information below.
It doesn't matter if I start up the CBloader and the quit the CB right away
after start up, or after loading a character or loading a character and
changing the character, but when I close the CB that error shows up.
I have attached a cbloader -v log file.
