[FEATURE] Hi/Low Cut filters on input about analogtapemodel

Would this allow for blocking out frequencies, say, removing the low end from the processing of sound? I was just looking for this in the current model. I LOVE this effect for my work. I am hoping to be able to cut out the sub-bass of my final mix, so the sub-bass does not also get affected. Is that what this will do?

Thanks for the note. Glad the plugin is working well for you! The original idea for this feature was to have filters that apply to both the dry and wet signals, so the high/low frequencies could be cut out a little bit before being sent to the rest of the plugin's processing. From your comment, it seems like you were looking for a filter to cut out the low frequencies and pass them through unaffected, so the processing only applies to the high frequencies? I'm not sure if I'm understanding that correctly.

Yep, you’re right - a way to bypass the low end, so one could avoid making a chain separating the EQ Bands. Similar to some mastering plugins, offering band-bypass

The way I'm implementing this for the moment is to include a "Makeup" switch. When "Makeup" is off, the filters apply high-/low-cut filters to the dry and wet signals before applying the rest of the processing. When "Makeup" is on, the filters function as band-bypass filters as described above.

Sounds interesting - looking forward to working with it. I just notice that when I put sub/low bass through the effect, it colors the bass as well, causing a mild overdrive. I could also make an EQ chain in Reaper (probably) and divvy the signal into low/everything else. Otherwise, once the CHOW Tape touches the sub, the attractive part of the low-end loses its magic. I kinda want to overdrive the mids/highs with the CHOW Tape to see what it sounds like, without affecting the sub. We'll see how this works!

Just gotta say, now this is even better! The Makeup Low/Hi Cut Filters are just awesome. Without the vibrating sub-bass, my low-mids to highs are getting just an extra ‘touch' of the tape sound, which spreads out their properties in a really nice way, brings me back to sound-engineering classes from ’99 - 01, with some people still using their own reel-to-reels and yakking about whether or not Mackies are better than Behringers and all that jazz… Keep in mind we were all 18 - 22 years old at the time. We didn’t know a thing about sound-engineering :D

Anyway, I use this and the iZotope Elements. That’s it. Izotope Elements is the final mastering plugin just to even out the sound’s EQ, giving a small volume boost with some stereo spread. The AnalogTapeModel makes narrow, low-volume ticking elements have a magnetic imprint sound, versus just tickling the eardrum.

As a secondary thought, I would say that you have technically created a mastering plugin. In the same window, if you followed this with parametric EQ, a stereo-imaging function, and a limiter, you’d basically have one of those ‘final touch’ sort of plugins. Knowing that you’re using a different set of functions to model the sound and properties of tape, I assume they could be applied to EQ and limiting as well?
