Is there a chance to modify it and make it work for english texts instead of Chinese?

I want to get a tf-idf python script that would get me keywords (by weight) from a text. Exactly what you're doing but for English text instead of Chinese.

How to evaluate the model performance ?

When use tf-idf model to extract keywords in comments from taobao or tianmao.

1. How to evaluate your model performance is good or not ?
2. How did you know the keywords extracted from comments can reflect the main topic of user comments ?
