Taximeters are implemented by LTFRB to ensure that the taxis are following the fare set for them. A Taximeter Calibration Certification sticker must be present at the windshield of the taxi for a taximeter to be valid. However, some taxis do not have a meter, either defective, turned off, or none at all. The tendency is drivers that turn off their meter or those have defective meter, give different price ranges, not fixed at all and overpriced. In turn, commuters, especially some tourists, are not aware of how the taxi price are computed leaving them confused and frustrated.
