wrap detection in try catch

need to wrap in a try catch so as to gracefully handle permissions that are not available on all platforms

Uncaught (in promise) TypeError: 'nfc' (value of 'name' member of PermissionDescriptor) is not a valid value for enumeration PermissionName.
