temp = temp + *ipvar <-- addition returns missing values, so missing values in even one slice cause the function to output missing value for those points in averaged var. Use a gVar count to keep track of number of non-missing values added at each location.

To make code modular, all netcdf code must be in ncio.cpp. gVar must be abstracted away from lower level netcdf functions, so that other file formats can also be used to construct gVars.
