lunatic-fringe's Issues

Bug: bullets while in the base blacks out the world

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Start game and do not move
  2. Fire a bullet or be hit by a bullet
  3. Bug: your ship is still there and can move around and fire, but the stars, enemies, etc. are all missing

Obtain Hammerhead sprite and sounds

A call to all whom read that we are looking for video or other resources that can be used to derive the game sprites and associated sounds.

Fix README link

I just realized that the Try it Out link in the README goes to https://schwal10.github.io/lunatic-fringe/, which is the Github Pages for my repo. While I have no issues with this, this means it would reflect any changes I make in my repo and not changes that are made to this repo. You will probably want to update that link to point to the Github Pages for this repo instead of mine.

Import SVN history

Just for completeness I am going to try and import the original history from the SVN repository on Google Code. When I do get it imported i will inform everyone as i will need to do a forced update due to the change in history.

All enemies present at game start

I was delighted to see this project! Lunatic Fringe carries so much nostalgia for me.

Playing today, it seems that all the potential enemy ships are on the screen from the start of the game (e.g., slicer, puffer) while in the original game they would only appear and attack once the player hit a certain point threshold.

Is that not built in yet, or is this an issue on my end?

Looks beautiful.

Debug on by default

Debug mode should be off by default so that new players can try the game out the way it is meant to be played. Debug mode is turned on trivially via a debug querystring variable.

Include history file

I thought it might be nice to have a history of the project and game file. This issue is to work towards collecting and forming those credits.

This game, Lunatic Fringe, was originally part of After Dark, a screen saver software for Apple computers in the 90s.

After Dark history TBD

Original creator of the game was Ben Haller Source

Fringe Player2 and Fringe Player is created by Greg Parker. It need original source files to run and allows Lunatic Fringe to run on Mac OS 10.3 and 10.4 via Fringe Player and on Mac OS 10.4 and 10.5 via Fringe Player 2.

The people of this project don't have a source to the original software at this time.
