If a hunter has already tamed one of those rares and is trying to find a second
one,
then the hunter can't use that rare. There's no way for _NPCScan to work around
this, since WoW automatically caches any pet it sees.

Noooooooo not trying for a second one. I have a horde hunter and an Alliance
hunter.
If the alli signs in with a pet the ding is there immediately. Now when I
switch to
my horde hunter, if I forget to clear the cache, yeah..

The fact that it goes off if someone runs down the street in Dal.. or anywhere,
is
ouchie. Sign in, oops one is in town.. it's name is scooby but it looks like
skoll..
log out, close down, clear cache, rinse repeat if I can't get out of town in
time or
avoid the tamed mob.

That's my only beef..

Ah, I see what you mean. I wish pets could be completely ignored by _NPCScan,
but
there's no way to do that yet.

Some ideas for you.

put a check boxs in the npc admin tool for each mob, rather than just one for
all
mobs (search for completed achivement). That way you could continue to search
for
pets outside Dal etc. I think this would effectivly negate the cache issues?

Also if you could tie this to you new flight path addon that would rock.
(enabling
you to turn on and off paths) you could even try doing it the way
RareSpawnOverlay
does it. This would effectivly negate the cache issues.

Lastly, (and likly belongs in a new post, sorry) your flight path maps use
colors
which are slighty too dark on the mini maps (even more so if paths overlap with
each
other)....becuase as a herber I cant tell if a herb (or miner / fisher etc) has
spawned. (I farm as I hunt npc's thus make money :-)

Cheers

For simplicity, I probably won't add individual checkboxes for achievement
rares.
Tamable mob detection has gotten a bit better since this bug was posted though,
so in
most cases _NPCScan wouldn't show a bogus alert.

Unfortunately there's no way to really fix the issue of tamable rares for good.
 Even
if they're not being searched for, the cache would still need to be reset if
you saw
one of them as pets.

As for _NPCScan.Overlay covering things on the minimap, you can make the paths
more
transparent with the slider in _NPCScan.Overlay's options pane under Minimap.
