Bug. opening a collection, loading trailer, pressing back

I've enabled in Fen

• open movie collections Instead when available

in the collection page once a trailer loads and I press backspace, I return to back to my previous page which is what I want.
but the trailer is still playing.

expected result - return back to previous page and the trailer stops

this makes more sense, thoughts? thanks

Square widget display type

If choosing square widget display type, it will show "posters" on square shapes. Is this normal?

Video OSD playback controls will break if Font is changed to Arial

I'm a fan of Fentastic skin and I've just tried Nimbus and found it amazing. I have to change the default font to Arial based, since I need Arabic language to work. Everything is working great, but, I noticed that, the Video OSD playback controls bar is messed up when I use the Arial font instead of the skin default font. See image below. I hope this will be fixed soon.

Trailers conflicting

Hey ivarbrandt, first things first, this skin is posed to explode in popularity and become mainstream by you keeping it simple, light, and not cluttered with customization options, congrats on your approach and hopefully it'll remain the same!

To the issue:
Latest version on a shield TV 2017.
Enable the Netflix-like trailer feature for the main menu, click on a movie on a widget, launch it's trailer, quickly press back. You'll land at the main menu with the trailer playing in the background, but the Netflix-like timer will remain and trigger, relaunching the trailer on top of the trailer that's currently playing.

No hint at verticality of the overall design

This might border in a feature request but I'd think it might be an "oversight", nevermind if not the case.
Currently there's nothing to hint the user that the layout of the skin is vertical. My wyfu instantly asked me "but where's the rest of the stuff?"
This is broadly solved on streaming apps by peek at what's down there, thus inviting the user to scroll down. Some Kodi skins solve it with a small downwards arrow icon, which looks cheaper but gets the job done.

Clear logo doesn't appear on some landscape poster

Hi, I'm using POV addon with Nbus skin, and I noticed that some titles posters are not have clear logo on them, while at other skins they appeared.

Wish you understand my problem and can fix it.

Question - about episodes in Flix view

Do you have any plans for changes to Flix view for epsiodes? By that I mean, at the moment, the poster art repeats in the row along the bottom. I know the skin is in heavy development atm, and you may already have somerthing in mind that you want to do there at some point. I was wondering if you had any plans to do small thumbs or a landcsape thumb aspect ratio just for episodes?

In my quest for a light weight Netflix style skin I think I've tried every skin out there and nothing has nailed it like Nimbus. I went so far as to do my own mod of an existing skin (DSteathTV), but speedwise it seemed like that wasn't much faster than Arctic Horizon 2, so I switched to Fentastic for my daily driver when I saw all the progress, speed and stability it offered. I'll be on that till I switch over to Nimbus for daily use.

Anyway, below was my own attempt at an episode view that would fit with the general skin theme of DStealth without a total rewite of the skin. I was wondering if something like the smaller episode thumbs or landscape might be in the works for Nimbus?

Landscape, Clearlogo

Hi, I'm glade for your hard work.
I have some ideas and changes to the skin.

First I wish if there an optione to make widgets with landscape appearance.

2nd, I wish if you can add content clearlogo to the seekbar as Arctic fuse skin and I think default kodi skin have it too.

3rd, I wish if there more options to the episodes and seasons lists appearance, I found it a little confusing.

Saw this in the repo, had no idea what it was and had to try it on a test build (with Fen Light) and was blown away! It's exactly what I've wanted with the home screen and the Flix view!

I'm not sure how to find out the window id, I tried but I'm sure you can.
when we are in Flix view, you have a windows id for it right?
say it's 10003
then create this entry in gen.xml

I've tried adding this custom window Id's but never got it working, if you can then this would work.
so here I used long down press to perform the action RipCD (https://kodi.wiki/view/List_of_built-in_functions or you can look at https://kodi.wiki/view/Action_IDs)

I don't think RipCD does anything and definitely not in when in Flix.xml, therefore you can set up Nimbus to wait for RipCD to perform anything you want. Best thing is you can change what you want it to do (open info, trailers, wall) but you don't have to change the keyboard.xml, just what you want the RipCD command to perform.

Just need to find a redundant action in kodi that doesn't affect when we are in Flex.xml
so you don't have to worry about messing with keys outside flex.xml

You don't even need to use anything fancy. you can use subtitledelay or anything, because those commands don't do anything in Flix window, but we can use them as proxies to turn into another command

"Trakt options" from context menu

When clicking Trakt options from the context menu of a widget item the screen goes black. The usual sound of scrolling a menu plays when scrolling with the remote, but the actual menu seems to be out of bounds or something.

This is on kodi for androidtv using an nvidia shield.

No Movies / TV Shows menu option

After installation no menu item for Movies and TV Shows was shown. In Skin Settings there is not much I can do. "Remake menus and widgets" doesn't fix it, and when I try to use "Set main menu path" or "Set widgets" I get an empty prompt with only a Cancel button.

sorry for opening this but I had a much better idea!

If I use down button to enter trailer and I'm in flix viewtype, how about this

press down once and load trailer
press down twice and trailer goes fullscreen

press up when I'm in full screen and it goes back to trailer being top left

press down when I'm in either fullscreen trailer or small screen trailer ends the trailer

I'm not sure if this behaviour will affect the up and down action when we are watching a movie. right now those buttons are taken when watching a movie. I've had the ending trailer by pressing down button for a while now, I don't use that button and so I don't really use the up button when I'm in fullscreenvideo, though I do beleive up button is ChapterOrBigStepForward

but if you can separate this behaviour for just trailers, we can enjoy fullscreen tailers so easily

down (enter trailer), down (fullscreen trailer), up (smallscreen trailer) down (close trailer)

I'm happy you deciding to close the trailer when we pressing down though. but this behaviour I mentioned seems intuitive.

you can set pressing up to go from small trailer (top left) to fullscreen, and if they press up again it goes small screen.

bug: automatic trailers

two bugs identified on my system.

I have automatic trailers on

1/ if a trailer loads for one movie, and I press right or left to change to another movie, the trailer will stop but the trailer
for the movie I just pressed won't come on. If I press another left or right, it will come on for that selection. then the behaviour repeats.

2/if a trailer is on for a movie and I press down to bring up the posters view of movies, the trailer doesn't stop but carries on, then if I pick another movie, the trailer is still set to the old one and is still playing. their will be no plot showing on this new movie with previous trailer. If I press right or left now, it will close the trailer but again behaviour 1 happens, no trailer will play for that first left/right click

[Request] duplicated episode thumbnail as background FanArt in homescreen widgets when using mixed-episode list

When you set the "Next Episodes" with Lanscape, Poster, etc. from FEN/FENLight or I believe any other addon that has a Mixed-Episode list. It will duplicate the thumbnail artwork as the FanArt background which makes it look bad, specially if the episode thumbnail has a lower quality picture it will get zoomed in.

This doesn't happen if you go inside the FEN addon and navigate to Next Episodes the artwork will be the official title FanArt as you'll see in the example screenshots below.

Homescreen Widgets, duplicated artwork

Inside FenLight add-on, same Next Episode list No duplicates, tv show's official FanArt is correctly displayed. 👍

Hopefully you can make this look the same in the homescreen widgets when the user selects a mixed-episode list to be used.

Hide seekbar when paused

There are scenarios where it is useful to see the entire screen when pausing a video. It would be nice to have a setting to auto-hide the seekbar when video is paused similar to the auto-hide OSD setting.

I'm hoping you can accommodate a small request I have..

Could you add <style>symbol</style> to the 3 ICON FONTS you have in Font.xml?

eg..

[Ideas] for missing meta information on titles in the Information tab

Here are some ideas I thought about that could be useful information which titles are missing in general when you navigate to the context menu "Information tab". I also show useful area where they could be incorporated, IF of course after you read the whole thing you think it's not actually a bad idea.

Heads up! for reference I'll be using some screenshots comparison from Arctic Fuse, to better represent the key information that's currently missing with Nimbus and perhaps be added with the help of Nimbus Helper which I believe it's your equivalent version more toned down of TMDb Helper. Please, correct me this is not the same. I compare it since I think this is where you get the meta information that Nimbus currently provides.

Okay, here we go. As you will see below, currently when looking into Movies/TV Shows you might notice that you only have a standard release date which is year only and even though it's not bad. Still, it could be more useful if it could be switched to be more accurate in the format of "mm/dd/yyyy".

Here is how it currently looks, as you see it every title only says the year of release and not the exact date. Look at the arrows for studio logo re-placement reference in both screenshots.

For reference, here's how it looks in Arctic Fuse, also the same in Arctic Horizon. Not too difference of an implementation, only more accurate info which what we look for. Also, the other arrows is to show you where the studio logo is placed in that skin and potentially where you could move it in case spacing is an issue to fit the slightly longer release date.

Now, moving to the context menu Information tab. Here are some key information that you could potentially add and the space is already available, well just me silly guessing as I have no clue how skinning works and measured space, gaps, etc. to fit information. However, I kinda made some rectangular shapes where I believe some extra info could fit when navigating to that tab which currently has very limited info from titles in general and it should be good to have a more in-depth look of useful things at a glance like;

For Movies: Director, Writer, Studio, Budget/Revenue, Accurate Release Date.

As you see here, I marked with arrows exactly the key useful information that should be available at a first glance when navigating to the context menu Information for any title if the user wish to know a little more about the movie in general. I know this information could be easily seen if you're using an add-on like FEN or FENLight and their Extras in Context menu. However, I specifically going more with the Information tab since this is the general tab for any add-on in general specially those that doesn't have an Extras section like, Seren, or maybe any other related streaming add-on out there that would rely to the information that's available within that tab.

Here as you can see this is the only information you get from a title, I marked two rectangular shapes where I believe this information might look good at a first glance.

For TV Shows: Creator, Writer, Studio, Next Episode.

Here using Arctic Fuse again for reference, I pointed with arrows the Key information that I believe could be useful to know at a first glance when you navigate to the context menu Information for TV Shows.

And as you can see this is all the information we get currently on Nimbus, again I marked with rectangular shapes two areas where I believe this information could look nice if added.

In conclusion, I want to make sure and specify this is not asking you for any feature requests neither something to be rushed. I wanted to create this issue more for you to see if in the future you plan to add any more information for titles, this is what I think it should be extra useful for users to see. I'm not a fan of overly crowding an information tab like those skin do, which is why I only picked 4 specific extra information for TV Shows and 5 Movies that are key. Other things like, Artworks, Reviews, recommendations, similar, etc. for me that just puts extra resource on a skin.

I hope you made it through here, before closing the issue hehe! I wonder what are your thoughts in these ideas?.

Edited: Hey! My mistake with the logo arrangement and the available space within the information tab below the poster. I took these screenshots from my laptop inside Kodi and it made it look like there was larger gap between the poster and bottom area. However, after looking it on my TV the space is smaller. But! For the studio logo, the arrow that points it out towards the right edge of the FanArt that space does look available similar as the screenshot while seeing it on the TV screen.

As well as for the information tab the rectangular space below the title plot, that space seems to be available as I kind of did it in the screenshot while seeing the information tab on the TV screen.

My apologies, I didn't kind of verified that until recently that I got home and double checked if the spaces were the same as in the screenshots while seeing it on the TV Screen. 😅

concept: integrate extras into Nimbus

Just want your thoughts on this concept.

Tiki Peter already has enabled two list to be access outside extras (Recommended, collections). I've asked him to allow access to all lists
(cast, recommended, more from genres, more from recommended etc)

user presses down, instead of the wall they go to the first list that is in extras, cast

now the bio of the actor goes where the plot went. and we get a nice fanart, going left and right we can see other actors.

Now I press down again and the next part in the extras comes up, recommended

I go left and right like before to browse then if I like a movie and click on it. It doesn't take me to extra but places the movie as a layer 1 on top like this

this is so we can access that movies extra lists.

if I press back it remembers the previous position and I can go down again to access the next extra list

If I press back one more time, it will take me to the original movie list.

Now you combine the aesthetics of NIMBUS with the information that extras provide, it's complete integration and makes
browsing for new content way better
you can keep the wall functionality by using long press down for that

their is even a possibility you can allow users to set which lists from extras they want included and in which order.

this seems like a big project, but regardless of if you think it's possible or want to take this on, what are your thoughts on the concept?

(P.s. I should have picked another movie for placing it on layer one. that movie by it's own is meant to be a different movie in the list from extra, technically you can't have the same movie as layer one when you go into extras for that movie)

Screen doesn't un-dim when woken after sleep

I'm using the "Dim" screensaver, and I walked away while leaving what I was watching (an RD stream) paused. When I came back, I couldn't get the display to un-dim back to normal brightness, but the content would play normally otherwise. Had to reboot. Seems perhaps linked to CEC stuff. Haven't looked to see if there has been an update that happened or something...

Translation Extras Page

Hello bro, your Nimbus skin is without a doubt the best I've ever tested among them all! And I always see new updates, the option to enable it to open the audio and subtitle configuration is amazing! I'm from Brazil, and I would like to have the option to translate the options on the films/series extras page, is there a way to add this option? I'm using the POV Addon, which works very well and I can put its language in Portuguese. If it had this option to translate the extra page, it would be wonderful.

So sorry to post as it's not really an "Issue". But I would love to install and have a play (I appreciate it's maybe not going to be available for major release). Widgets navigation

I can't find a visual cue showing the user that there is another row/widget above or below. Is there a way to show that there is another menu below the current widget?

[Issue] Unsupported media views for anime add-on Otaku

Hello, again. I'm not sure if this issue fix will have to be via the add-on's developer or you the skin's developer. Either way I'll also tag his username after I explain the issue below.

So, It seems like all those new media views you have added recently including FlixScape, FLIX, WallScape. Look weird and unsupported within the Otaku add-on specifically in the Episodes section. The add-on seems to work fine with every other skin I have installed and their media views, besides Nimbus. So, I wanted to report this issue so It can be resolved and hopefully the add-on gets fully supported with the skin so myself and any other current and future users of this skin that might happen to use this add-on also enjoys it as it should without encountering themselves with these media view's inconsistencies.

Here are some screenshots and I'll also include a short video clip of all the media views within Episodes and how they compared to an addon like FEN in this example but can also apply to TMDb Helper as well as they all display the newly added media views in Episodes correctly.

So, hopefully this can be fixed/adjusted so the Otaku add-on is fully supported with this skin. Let me know if this has be fixed from the add-on developer side or if you can fix this yourself. Either way I'll tag him below in a separate comment, so he can check the issue too.

[Feature Requests] some ideas

1/ if we set press down to enter trailer, then press down to close trailer

2/I like ability to chose what action happens when we press down, are you able to use long press to configure other actions?
so pressing down I can set to trailer and long press down I can set to open wall, you could have long press up to set information etc

3/When you enter POV trailer you a timeline at the bottom

when watching trailer it's a nice indication to know when the trailer will finish so you can quickly get to watching a movie.

if this can be done and I press down for trailer, it would be really good if the focus is on timeline so then I can press right and left to go forward or back in the trailer, then maybe I can press up so the trailer ends and the focus is on the movie item

(what would be even cool would be if you can have the colour or the timeline to be the match background blur colour)

Icon bug on main screen "next episodes widget"

Setup a tmdbhelper>your next episodes widget, and there's this blank placeholder next to the episode duration on every episode in the widget, except when the episode is season premiere.

Side question: is it intended for square view to show landscape episode previews with black bars on top and bottom? Instead of just the episode preview (maybe you haven't/won't implement landscape size? Would look better / Netflix like tho.

Mdblist Invalid API Key

Hi there,

not sure if it was after the last update but I no longer see ratings. When I go to the ratings management section it shows INVALID API KEY. I’ve recentered it, even created a new app key, but it still shows invalid as soon as it’s entered.

I even cleared cache in Kodi and re entered the key but no matter what it just keeps showing invalid. I saw few others posts on Reddit mentioning this same issue.

Auto trailer still playing once I enter Fen Extra menu in background

First of all I really love the new additions! I've noticed you add a vertical line to give more emphasis on what is highlighted nice
and of course the symbol to show a movie is part of a collection. kind of better than how I envisioned it. I also love how you change the colour to match the background, damn sweet! nice work

so regarding the behaviour , if auto trailer is enabled and Fenlight has extras eneabled, if I press select to enter extras menu, the trailer is still playing.
also if a movie is part of a collection and I press select to enter the collection set, the trailer is still playing. now that the focus has changed maybe stopping the trailer would be more intuitive?

Adding fonts

Hello, thanks for the great job!

I have noticed that you have several other fonts files already in the fonts folder.
Would it be possible to make them optional selectable from the skin?
I usually use inter-black for example and have to edit the files after each update.
I think it would be a good addition to the skin in general.

[Feature Request] turn off collection icon if we entered a collection screen

To me a collection icon represents that a movie is a set and not just an element.
when we are inside a set, then the individual movies are elements (and not sets), which the icon over elements isn't working in that thinking.
Are you able to turn them off when inside a set? imho it looks cleaner plus we have no use of the icon inside a collection since we know they will be part of a collection, which is redundant

Mdblist api key invalid after last update

Home screen is not touch friendly.

Skin looks and works awesome apart from some issues. Would love to use it as a modern replacement for Estuary/Fentastic, but the home screen is not touch friendly in the slightest.

Swipes open random side menus, taps don't register in the right places, and if I didn't have only my Add-ons as a widget, I'd have to go into debug mode to just turn off the skin. Every other menu works nicely, but a smoother way to open the sidebar (for changing views and such) would be nice as well.

Have to toggle blur on then back off for color scheme highlighting to work

This is kind of a weird one. If I use a color scheme (like Rufous Red), each time I relaunch Kodi, I have to toggle blur on then off 1 time for the color scheme to show. Otherwise all the highlights are white. Color highlighting persists through a skin reload, but if I close Kodi and relaunch, it loses the highlighting. It does this on both the android tv box and desktop (Linux) so doesn't seem OS specific. Not a big deal but wanted to make you aware in case you hadn't seen it. To me, it seems like on launch it's not checking the color scheme setting if blur is off and uses the default white highlight. Once you toggle blur on/off manually it is reading the color scheme setting.

Gismeteo weather - cycling through locations?

I'm trying to determine how to cycle through the locations I have set for weather updates, and I've not found it yet. In stock Embuary, it's just a matter of pressing ok in my remote app and the next location populates the screen. Not in Nimbus. Do I have to dig into widgets and make one for each city?

Support for local files

Is it going to support local files unlike Fentastic? I have tons of files with proper NFOs and Estuary is just so boring.

OSD background

First of all a BIG THANK YOU for this skin, it's all I dreamt: simple, blazing fast and great looking.

Second, is not a request is just an observation. Black background on OSD controls. When I want to adjust offset for subtitles I can't see subtitles. Maybe a transparent layer instead that black background?

Anyway no biggie if not because I need offset correction very rare.

Nimbus Update

EDIT: This guide has been updated as of 0.1.15. In order to have access to all of the new features make sure that you are on the latest version of the skin 0.1.15 and the helper 0.0.37.

There is a big Nimbus update now available with lots of changes to the skin. I’m writing this guide to hopefully help the transition go more smoothly as some of the changes may be confusing.

I really wanted to add some optional artwork types and extend the blur functionality to the rest of the skin. This would mean axing color themes completely. But I know that there’s some of you that prefer color themes so I was able to come up with a solution that fits both preferences. That did require quite a few changes. I would say about 97 percent of the original look can be achieved.

The biggest change that I want to go over is the handling of artwork and how it affect the skin’s overall appearance. Artwork settings can be configured individually for the home screen and views, but only the home artwork settings influence the whole skin. Let me show you what I mean.

Go to the home screen and highlight the main menu, click left and the home screen artwork settings will pop up.

Here you can toggle blur, change artwork style from fanart to landscape, and when landscape is enabled you can display it normally or use fanart. There is also options for which art to display for the new landscape widgets as well as options for episode art. For episodes, when fanart is chosen as the style, you can choose between thumbs or fanart. When landscape is enabled, you can choose between thumbs, fanart, or landscape.

Besides the new Landscape widget and views which I will get to below, some of the biggest changes are how the selected artwork impacts the overall look and feel of the skin. Here’s an overview of the combinations and how they change the skins overall appearance.

Blur disabled + fanart = original Nimbus look with fanart and black backgrounds.

Blur disabled + landscape + default/fanart = New look where landscape or landscapefanart is used instead of fanart. The color theme is also used across the skin and menus.

Blur enabled + fanart/landscape + default/fanart = Blur everywhere. Blur changes depending on which type of art is chosen. If fanart isn’t available, it will fall back to the custom background image you’ve set. You can set this in Skin settings as well.

Now, these exact same options are available in the video windows inside addons. Let’s say you go to a movies window then access the media menu panel on the left. You’ll see Artwork and when Landscape is enabled you can choose between default and fanart. You can also access other settings in the media panel like clearlogo and blur. When blur is disabled and landscape is enabled, the skin will switch to the selected color theme as well.

Artwork can be configured independently of the home screen and video windows. Artwork can also be configured independently for movies, tvshows, seasons, and episodes in the video windows. For example, you can have landscapefanart for movies, fanart for tvshows, and landscape for seasons etc.

There are also 3 new views that have been added:

List (movies, tvshows, seasons, episodes, episode lists, menus, addons, favorites, etc)

FlixScape and the accompanying homescreen Landscape widget (movies, tvshows, seasons, episodes, episode lists)

WallScape (movies, tvshows, seasons, episodes, episode lists)

The artwork options for List are completely separate from the other views and content types. So you can have different artwork for movies, tvshows etc. Nimbus will remember what you set and display that artwork just like the other views. Also, please note that one-click trailers and auto trailers play in fullscreen from this view.

In FlixScape you'll see an additional option called Artwork (Items). This toggles the art used for the items themselves. When toggling this, you'll need to refocus the main view before fully seeing the changes. The equivalent setting for this in the home screen is called Landscape widgets and you'll see this in the artwork settings menu. In FlixScape, you also have one click access to WallScape view when pressing down. Just make sure you have Enable one-click switch to Wall/WallScape view enabled in Skin settings. This option will work even if you've locked the view. NOTE: This also works the same way in Flix view.

That’s about it for the main changes. The last few updates saw quite the transformation of Nimbus so feel free to explore around and try different options and combinations to best suit your preferences. it's pretty amazing, it uses Themoviedbhelper which I know you rather not touch but you probably don't have to touch that.
would be very beneficial for Nimbus to have this as an option that you can replace normal information screen.

Just thought I'll bring it to your attention since someone in reddit was asking how to get information on umbrella and I told them about this addon and thought it would be cool if it was able to integrate with Nimbus. peace

With POV the quality of the fanarts and clearlogo and poster was incredible after configuring, it was a little slower but I don't mind, I hope that one day you can add the movie collection function to POV too! Thanks for always helping.

OSD doesn’t go away if playback speed is changed.

I raise the playback speed to 1.2 and the OSD will not go away.

I thought it's worth trying to fight for it, please close the issue if I've gone to far.

compared to

the way the concept skin works is. those mini posters won't be cut off but you'll have 3 by 2 posters on left side.
it starts top left. pressing down selects the item below it. once you have completed the collumn it will start at the top of the second collumn. once you finished that collumn a new grid of 3 by 2 items will load.

You can also press right/left to hop collumns

if you want to quickly go through the posters you can press right to access the scrollbar and you can scroll through 6 items with one click in poster view.

You don't need title image since you have it baked inside the poster and the poster is so big too. some movies don't even have a title image but the poster always has one.

In the view I have you are literally only missing 6 movies, but each movie has full genres, much more plot, you get more immersed in looking at poster to see what the movie is about. it's a better way to browse imho

I believe nothing beats poster view. movie companies spend time and resources on poster. and having it centre draws your eyes their.
if you like the poster, you can very easily do side glance at the plot. we can fit more in plot using this view

you can even reduce the size of the poster some what, add in your diffuse elements from Nimbus but the general concept, what do you think of it? I think so many will fall in love with it. I've seen myself click the trailer button more on this massive poster view than any other view.
also a good benefit of this view is if someone has animated posters, it would be awesome to have them as big as possible in the centre

Also you have seen some of my creative concept work which you have liked, maybe I might have something here? I'll understand you don't have time to devote to a creating a new view type but if you think it has merit I hope you can consider it for future release. Thanks
