blaze-minecraft-rig's Introduction

Blaze's Minecraft Rig 8.0.1 for Blender 2.80+

This fork of Timy's Minecraft Rig only makes the Python code for the custom UI compatible with Blender 2.80 and above - I will not provide support for it. If you would like to contribute, create a pull request - you can find a list of known issues below.

Make sure you enable Auto Run Python Scripts in Blender's Preferences under the Save and Load tab.

Rig Features:

Compatible with the Cycles Render Engine.
Compatible with Minecraft 1.7 and 1.8 skins.
Compatible with 3px and 4px arm widths.
Download skins and capes from usernames.
OptiFine capes and custom cape support.
Forward and inverse kinematic controls.
Fancy feet (toggleable).
Auto-extrusion of second skin layer and hats (toggleable).
Sharp, smooth, and none for arm and leg bend types (toggleable).
Different rig styles and shapes (toggleable).
A variety of armor and elytra (toggleable).
Color options for leather armor (toggleable).
Glossy material for iron, gold, and diamond armor (toggleable).
Enchantment effect for all armor (toggleable).
Face control rig (toggleable).

Differences From Timy's Minecraft Rig:

Updated the Python scripts to run on Blender 2.80+ (now incompatible with Blender 2.79-).
Removed auto-blink due to incompatibilities with the new API that I do not know how to fix.
Removed the ability to randomize and reset armor due to the same issue.
Removed the ability to install as an Add-On and update it due to the same issue.

Known Issues:

Not compatible with the Eevee Render Engine.
Adjusting the stretch length beyond the maximum allowed by the rig causes issues.
Netherite armor and all Minecraft capes from 2017 and beyond are missing.
Downloading or importing a Minecraft skin does not automatically change the arm type.
The viewport shading must be set to rendered for proper skin previews.
Smooth bends do not work with 3D layers enabled.
Installing this as an Add-On is pointless, as it fails to append the rig correctly.
Appending a second rig may crash Blender.

FAQ:

Q: Why do I not see the custom UI?
A: Make sure you enable Auto Run Python Scripts in Blender's Preferences.
Make sure you have the rig's armature selected.
Append "Blaze's Minecraft Rig.py" into your project and run the script.

Q: Why does it take a long time to render?
A: The lighting in this Blender file is designed for quality, not performance.
If you have a graphics card, make sure that GPU rendering is enabled.
