taglist's Introduction

Taglist

Got tired of the default Plasma Pager? Me too! That is why, inspired by panels in tiling window managers, I made this plasmoid.

Note to users

This plasmoid doesn't currently offer any customization. Furthermore, it is intended to be used in a vertical panel only.

Installation

Later there will be a proper mechanism. At the moment, do the following:

git clone https://github.com/ishovkun/taglist
cd taglist
kpackagetool5 -t Plasma/Applet --install package

So how do I get those cool icons instead of boring desktop names?

That is where the beauty of customization comes. Go to http://fontawesome.io/cheatsheet/, grab the icons you like, and set them as names of your desktops. Note that you really need to select the icon from that cheatsheet and also that is won't show correctly in the desktop settings page, but it will in the plasmoid since it comes bundled with Font Awesome.

Custom labels feature

Some people have multi-desktop setups. Let's assume you want separate indicators per screen. Since KWin doesn't allow separate workspaces (desktops) per screen, that's when this feature comes in handy. Just enter the comma-separated labels into the "Custom labels" field and choose the "Custom Labels" value into the drow-down list.

Acknowledgments

Thanks to the authors of the Font Awesome.

taglist's Issues

feature request: tag list per monitor

Do you think it's possible to make taglist to show virtual desktops only from current monitor?
My intention is to have panel per monitor, as if I had i3bar running.

And thanks for a great plugin. Essential part for running kde with tiling wms.

Monochrome version

Would it be possible to add a monochrome version of the dots? A full circle for current desktop and empty circles for the others. This would make it compatible with Latte Dock's recoloring feature (v0.9).

Circles get reset to >> symbol

image
Every time I restart plasmashell, the circles reset to the symbol in the image. Do I need to download any fonts for the circles to work? Or why is this happening and any workarounds/fixes for this?
OS - Kubuntu 18.10
Plasma 5.14

Switching using mouse wheel

Would it be possible to implement switching using mouse wheel like in default pager?

Thanks for great applet!

Look with a lot of desktops in multiple rows

As you've stated in G+, ATM, 9 desktops arranged in 3x3 would shown as plain 9 dots. Setting desktop names and got icons is one of solution, but still it's good to have some other visual hint of row grouping. To keep this nice, I've had two ideas:

  1. Change spacing for different rows:
    multirow_1
  2. Use different vertical position (or horizontal for vertical panels) for desktops in one row:
    multirow_2

1st case looks more clean, 2nd keeps space.
