Normally Arch packages are .tar.xz files, prefixed by some kind of version identifier. Just curious how did the download name get to be ".pacman"?

Looking good! A great addition though would be to start the text at the focus area rather than having to wait for it to get there. If I have the focus area on the top, I have to wait for that text to get there or queue it to be there before I start my presentation.

With that, it would also mean that the timer would start at zero rather than however many seconds I have to wait for it to get to the focus area.

I'm using Teleprompter for school TV studios and our student account has some fairly heavy restrictions on it. I was provided with a build that allows me to install into Program Files so we could use the program with AppLocker enabled.

I cannot find the location where files are stored to allow for saving on these restricted accounts.

I'm planning to setup a teleprompter with an Android tablet and using the web version of this app. I have few questions:

1. At the moment I see that the web version is 2.4. Does this version support Chrome (Or firefox) on Android 9?
2. The default behavior of the app is that a new page starts and the cursor is on the center. Is there any way to modify it to start on the right side in RTL mode please? which file(s) needs to be modified and what do I need to change?
3. Why does the app only supports 9 fonts? is there a way to add fonts?

I am the technical lead for a high school broadcast program. Currently, we use Google Docs as a teleprompting software (not my choice, haha). I would love to move to Imaginary Teleprompter, but the feature that the teacher who oversees the program would like is the ability to automatically import a Google Doc to the teleprompter. Bonus points for automatic reload, as this is the main feature he harps on (the ability to make modifications to the script on a different computer after the show's production has started).

Would something like this be possible?

It would be nice if we can change the background image. I know this is a minority opinion but I sometime use this software at some presentation where people having hearing issues can read. And I'd like to change it to some nicer background to look at, and more suitable with the presentation.
Is there anyway to do that?

In the last sentence of the Introduction in the README.md file, there is a typo. It says "Standalone version tuns on Linux, Mac OS, Windows and Free BSD." The word "tuns" should be changed to the word "runs".

I use Imaginary Teleprompter with the "Bottom Focus" setting and run it on an old laptop that's just above the camera. I find that the bottom focus height of three lines is not quite enough when there's lots of text or the need for pauses in my scripts. It would be great if I could increase that focus area to more than three lines.

Hello… I am a professional teleprompter operator in Miami FL; I work for Telemundo and various production companies on live television, studio shoots, etc…

Based on a lot of live and real world experience I have some suggestions and requests for the software in its next iteration. In fact I was hoping to try it today on a shoot at Telemundo but there’s an important feature that I need. May I share these observations with you...?

Markers: we need the ability to set a marker without naming it. The ideal functionality is to hit an F key (F3 is standard) and set a marker. Then we jump to the next or previous marker with a user-programmable alt key combination. We program these shortcuts into a USB controller like a Shuttle Pro. The named marker can be replaced with…

Scene numbers: Frequently we need to skip around in a script while prompting. This is usually in an emergency situation, an unanticipated change in the run order of a show, so it has to be fast. One solution is to jump to the item or scene number. Ideally we could enter the scene number such as “A12” in a search box, hit enter, and jump to it from wherever we are currently prompting, without stopping prompting or displaying any visible interruption to the talent.

Typically in a script, the item number is in a title line called a “slug” which is a line describing the scene, in black text on a white background above the line intended for the talent to read. We want to be able to move ahead or back when a director calls out an item number for the prompter to go to. This is something distinct from a marker.

I can send examples of real live event scripts so you can see the original formats we get from script writers and producers.

Simple button interface: In our workflow we don’t need all the features on the toolbar, just the ones we use constantly.
I would like to suggest a minimal toolbar button set with other features hidden in the menu bar.
Labels in words are easier and faster to read than icons, and larger, simple buttons are better than anything too highly designed. Speed and instant responsiveness are the most important thing in the UI for a prompting application because of the pace of live television and even studio shooting.

New | Open (Import) | Close | Save | Font (opens dropdown box with font, size, color, background color) | Find/Replace (ctrl F) | Prompt/Edit (toggle between Prompt mode/Edit mode)

Editing interface The Editing mode should have an option to view the script at full size, and at a small font size so we can see several paragraphs of text on the screen. Editing should stay in white text on a black background like prompting.

The keyboard shortcut to prompt and “exit prompt to edit mode” could be user selectable so we can program it on shuttle controller buttons.

The advanced features and even features like Spellcheck could be on regular dropdown menus, not on the button bar.

If your programmers are interested in refining this application with input from the real world of high-pressure, broadcast-level prompting, please let me know… I would be happy to give you input on future iterations that would give us a new option, and give you a competitive product.

I have an issue with Imaginary Teleprompter (which is an awesome software btw! :))

I'm on Mac (10.13.3 High Sierra), and whenever I click "Prompt It", the promper screen is 100% fine BUT the main screen (my feedback to read at the same time as the person in front of the cam), is black, like, totally black.

I have activated the option to prompt on both screen, "normal" for my feedback screen, "horizontal mirror" for the prompter.

What can I do to overcome this?

EDIT: Also when I click on "Prompt It", both screens "flip to the right" as if it changed workspace. I figured that if I press CTRL+1 (to switch to workspace 1), I can see the program prompting text, but then the prompter screen shows a white screen.

EDIT again: I just tried on a windows machine, no problemo

It would be helpful if the timer would stop and leave the final time, instead of resetting to 0:00:00, when the script has reached the end.

That way, if all we're trying to do is see how long a script takes to read, we could start prompting, walk away, and come back some time later to see how long it took.

If there is some use I'm not seeing to having it reset to zero, then this could be a toggle.

Can anyone recommend a $300 or less USB knob controller for Imaginary-Teleprompter?

I can't save files.

To reproduce:

1. On Mac, start Teleprompter.
2. Enter any text into the prompting window.
3. Click the "Save" (disk) icon.
4. Click "Add File". Note that the screen is now cleared and all editing is gone.
5. Click "Import Files" and navigate to a text file. Error occurs stating that the file couldn't be imported (a TEXT file, really?).
6. Click the down arrow next to the name of the file you attempted to save earlier. Click "OK" of the dialog that appears (showing "HTML" as the file extension). Now, look at the file saved and also note that the file length is 0.

Thank you so much for your great free software.
I'm using parallel several types of teleprompter software, both MAC and PC.
So, I'd like to tell you 3 points you can improve for your software.

1- Edit Window
Could you make an edit window during Prompt?
Now if I find any incorrect content, I need to press Esc, try to find where location I need -> Anchor -> press Prompt It! again.
If you have an Edit window, parallel with the Prompt window, and can edit immediately, That's perfect!.

2- Progress bar
Could please make a small Redline on the bottom or right side to show the progress of the Prompt.
For example, 0% (start Prompt) nothing to show on the bottom.
50% have haft Redline on the bottom
100% (complete Prompt) is full of Redline.

3- Scrolling effect when PGUP or DOWN
Could you make a small float up or down effect when I press PGUP or PGDown button?
That's easier for the presenter to know I'm quickly scrolling up or down.

You can refer to another prompter software, caller Power Prompter on MAC OS, that's the good software I used.
There are my 3 suggestions I want to tell you.
Hopefully they will make your software better in new version, I think 3.0 :D

Hi, firstly thanks for such awesome software!

I want to use this with my webcam which is on top of my very wide (32") monitor, but I do not want video where it is obvious that my eyes are constantly moving left and right. Therefore the prompter needs to appear in a narrow window. I can set the "External prompter" option to "No Flip (Normal screen)" and after clicking "Prompt it!" manually resize the new window, but it is annoying to do this each time. It would be much nicer if the width was sticky or if I could set it in the options.

In my LG phone the first two buttons are missing padding and the drop down button below the documentation heading is way to long for the screen, maybe change the linesize for that button.

I just want to make one correction and ask two questions:

• Correction: in this Github page, in the explaining and linking to make standalone executables, the link is wrong and should be this one.
• Question: I'm looking to use this program with 2 computers and a NAS (both Windows). My question: where can I setup the default location that the app will get the files from?
• Is there a way (or a feature planned) to indicate whether the current edited filed is saved or modified?

Allow user to choose to start prompting in one of two modes:

• Fullscreen: current mode
• Windowed: using a frame/decorator-less window

Prompter window in windowed mode should provide the ability to be moved and resized.

For me the timer size is too big, and might to have a different color for it to have high contrast with the prompted text. Is that possible?

Is there a way that using the find function can lock onto the word once you exit? For example, in Microsoft Word, it will jump you to the location of the word you are searching and stay at that place in the document when you exit the search function itself.

A similar function would be helpful when switching from prompt mode to edit mode, rather than having to scroll to find where you were in the script to make adjustments.

Let me know if you'd like any additional clarifications - or if these functions already exist and I just can't find them. Thanks!

I'm going to guess that y'all have deliberately kept other fonts out of the program to simplify, but I'd like to suggest an addition.

I've worked in television for years, and have found the "Open Dyslexic" font to be extraordinarily useful for readers from all across the spectrum. You can find it at: https://opendyslexic.org/

The design of the font helps guide the eye to the next letter/word, and while it takes a bit of adjustment for the talent, in my experience it radically cuts down on missed reads.

Text highlights are not copied from another text editors.

I'm wondering if there is a way that when I edit something in the main edit window, and then start prompting again, if there's a way that I could go directly to the spot in the script that I was just editing, rather than to the beginning of the script in the external prompting window?

Sometimes when I start teleprompting, the text jumps and the screens don't match, i.e. what I see on the control screen differs slightly from what is on the talent screen. Any ideas?

In order to integrate the teleprompter with other systems, I require a way to push text to it via network. This can be done either by exposing an API or by implementing the MOS protocol.

I was wondering its possible to import RTF files as source files. I tried doing so but the files themselves lose all of their formatting. If i try pasting it as text via the interface it will show the formatting on the input box but once i hit OK it loses all of its formatting.

Set more common default keyboard keys by default, to increase chances of instant hardware compatibility.

When my company does live events, a lot of our show control is via Bitfocus Companion. Companion modules exist for many different tools from switchers and consoles to software such as PlaybackPro, Irisdown Countdown Timer and many more.

While I can use Companion with a Keyboard emulator/listener much more can be done including feedback to the Companion from Teleprompter. See Irisdown Countdown Timer for a good example.

First step in getting a module is for the developer to have a network API.

I realize that support for importing RTF files is on the "to do" list, and that it would take some work to implement. Being able to import files, rather than having to copy and paste, from other applications, such as word processors, would be very handy. So, would it be easier to support importing plain text files, at least as an interim measure, until RTF import is implemented?

I have some suggestion regarding focus area.
It would be nice to have option to add custom arrows or other symbols (maybe in png format, or some kind of vector graphics) to focus area.
Some of prompter programs we used had such graphics indicating focus point, and as much as i like your focus style more, some of our talents prefer arrow style.

Other than that your software is simply amazing. Thank you for your hard work.

I am wondering if this software can have a option of importing system fonts. I am using the software on pc.
I am not able to figure it out is this option of is presently available or not.
Actually I am trying to add a test in krutidev true type font but I am unable to complete.
May be you can think for adding the feature in future releases, if it is not presently available.

SUMMARY
Font selection takes a long time to load and resulting font selection list is incomplete.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

1. Install thousands of open type and true type fonts on operating system
2. Select text in editor
3. Click on font selection dropdown menu

OBSERVED RESULT

• Font selection dropdown took over a minute and half to load the first time and 1-2 seconds in following times.
• Font selection is truncated at around 90% of fonts being loaded.

EXPECTED RESULT
Font selection dropdown should load instantaneously.
All compatible fonts should be loaded.

SUGGESTED OUTCOME
Font selection dropdown should implement lazy loading to achieve an instantaneous loading perception. Truncated font selection may be automatically solved as a by product of implementing lazy loading.

I like the Idea to have a WebCam Mode with the Focus on Top. But while using Teleprompter on my last Lecture with Zoom, i would like to see the last Line go out of the Focus until it moves out of my screen. Sometimes I change my speaking pace a bit to create tension.
Maybe its possible to make an additional Focus Mode available, which is between Top Focus and Middle Focus. Just have one or two Lines above the Top Focus would be great.

I used another teleprompters, and they had the opposite speed control for the windows keyboard up and down keys. I wish I could invert them on imaginary Teleprompter, because I can´t get used to this new configuration. Thanks.

We use a dev.version with secondary monitor. I have entered text into editor, change font size and press "Prompt it" button. Than we have a new window with scrolled text. But when I need to edit text I need to press "Close" button and press again "Prompt it" to start it. It's very unusable. In master version I can just press "Promt it" once to start and when I have edit text and just press "Promt it" to start. Can you check this?

It would be nice to have option to use wireless presentation clicker with teleprompter.
A wireless presenter is basically just a wireless keyboard with very few keys. The most important of these keys are the Next and Previous keys, which are supposed to switch to the next and previous slide in the presentation, respectively.

In many presenters, the Next and Previous keys are mapped to Page Down and Page Up. This means that pressing the Next key on the presenter is really just the same thing as pressing Page Down on the computer keyboard.

It would be nice to have the text as close to the top of the screen as possible for webcam mode. Can you put your logo bar at the bottom whenever webcam mode is selected? Thanks
