StarCraft II replay-processing pipeline.

I'm a software engineer from Vancouver, and am currently working in Toronto. Right now, I'm a senior backend engineer at 🏒 MLSE Digital Labs, where I architect and manage products that serve the Toronto Maple Leafs, Toronto Raptors, and more.

Previously, I led a product rewrite initiative at 🥬 Freshline, worked on improving the deliverability of 📫 Gmail, and strengthened identity and attestation guarantees around 🔒 Confidential Computing.

I graduated with a CS degree from the 🎓 University of British Columbia, and interned at 👊 Riot Games, 🌎 Google, and 🐻 Axiom Zen. I also created ⚔️ zeal.gg, a site for tracking the League of Legends ranked climb.

Collect rough positional data based on base proximity

Categorize units based on proximity to ie. first base, natural, expansion, or out in the world (far away from any of the other categories).

Construct and save observed state vectors

To create an "observation" over 10 seconds, we actually want to step through each game step, and tally up the unique units that we see that a given step. Once we go through the entire "observation interval", we use the total counts of units seen to describe how many units we observe.

Output basic replay metadata as JSON

Parse individual replays into training data rows

Will need to take into account both players' perspectives to form the proper matrices.

Build model to evaluate the value of observations

For example, carrying forward past observations to future timesteps where no observations was made, and seeing if that outperforms simply using the naive observation vectors.

Simple action prediction based on state and observations

Make observation length an optional parameter

Figure out specifically what the mapping is between game ticks and wall time.

Manually map unit enum IDs to names

Wrestling with the protobuf API to programatically grab this class enum has proven to be too difficult (and maybe not even possible, since that enum isn't actually exported as a protobuf message).

Write wrapper script to load state/action/observation vectors

Aggregate higher-level strategy vectors

Infer 'army strategies' (ie. air, ground bio, etc.) from current army composition at various time steps.

Define mapping for sc2client unit enum

We need a sequential mapping for the units defined in the UNIT_TYPEID enum.
