Quick update
The good folks at plotly.js have agreed to host this library under their organisation. We are currently in discussion of the details.
I will post updates as and when they occur in this thread.

We agreed with the plotly team that this repository will be moved to the plotly organization. Many thanks to @ndrezn for facilitating the process. We'll start the migration process and try to move as much as possible from this repository, hopefully issues and PRs included.
In the meantime, community volunteers that would like to take up a more active role in the maintenance and development of the library are welcome. Reply in this thread and we'll make sure you're included in the process.

@ktjd123, @andrei-ng, @mfreeborn, I've created Issue 4511 in the main plotly.py repository and I have contacted the plotly organisation asking them if they would be willing to take over the project. Given the statistics on crates.io, quite a few people are now using and relying on this project which is quite satisfying to see, so hopefully the good folks at plotly.py will realise that and would be kind enough to bring the project under their umbrella.

This project seems amazing !.
Curios if it's still maintained.
Thank you, appreciate your works.Unfortunately not, I am no longer able to contribute and I'm no longer a maintainer.
What happened exactly, because I didn't remove you. You still have access to crates.io, right?
Unfortunately I just have no time to commit to such projects any more due to a change in circumstances.
Fair enough! I'm grateful for your efforts so far, you've done an excellent job keeping the project alive. I'll take over for now.

@andrei-ng was it you that sent me an email about 10mins ago?
Yes @igiagkiozis. My, apologies for spamming you, but very happy you replied. I reached out to you as @mfreeborn mentioned he no longer has access. Not an expert on Github Organizations either, but here it seems to be nicely explained for mortals: https://github.com/orgs/community/discussions/69020#discussioncomment-7167341
Thank you for the link @andrei-ng. Given that @mfreeborn doesn't the capacity to continue as maintainer, I'll have a look at it and spend some time planning the way forward.

Thansk for the reply @mfreeborn.
You crated a great library and it would be a shame to fork it. @igiagkiozis could you create a plotly-rs
Github organization and add a few of us as maintainers. I think most of us would prefer not to fork it.

Do give us an update once it is decided how to continue with this pending PRs...

Hey @andrei-ng (or anyone else in this thread!) -- do you remain interested in supporting this project by reviewing and merging PRs? If so, do reach out to connect -- [email protected]. With the project under the Plotly namespace, it will be easier to manage maintainership with support from the community!

@andrei-ng do send me an email so we can connect first & chat about the project 🙂

@mfreeborn can other contributors be made maintainers ? Is that something you can do or only @igiagkiozis can do that ?

Only @igiagkiozis https://github.com/igiagkiozis can do that, otherwise it would be a case of creating a fork.

Hi @mfreeborn ,
I thought I had given you access a while back, it seems some update reset all settings. You've been added as a collaborator. Can you please confirm that you have all necessary access?

Thanks @andrei-ng, I created the library, however @mfreeborn has been the primary maintainer for well over a year now (if not longer). The project has grown quite a bit since I started it and I see no reason to force people to fork it and I don't want to be the bottleneck here. So happy to hear suggestions, will have a look at what you mentioned about the Github organisation.

@igiagkiozis @andrei-ng @mfreeborn Add me if you would like to create an organization for this project. I am currently an active user of it. Having not a lot time, but can lend a hand whenever possible.

We'll be shifting the repo over, and if folks are interested in supporting maintenance, always happy to help facilitate! For now, the Plotly team won't be contributing new features or maintenance to this project, similar to other language wrappers for Plotly.js like https://github.com/plotly/plotly.NET or https://github.com/plotly/plotly.R.

Hi @ndrezn. I am interested in the project and using it. Yes, do add me. I do have limited capacity so I do hope that others would join.
@iynehz and @gwbres would you also want to join?
from plotly.
Hello @andrei-ng,
I'm interested in this project to remain alive and keep improving.
I'm not really aware of the inner workings, so I don't this I would fit in a maintenance team.
I personnaly had to fork to unlock Density plot - PR still opened, and eventually will need support of plot animations.
So whatever you decide, as long as this does not die
from plotly.
@andrei-ng Yes I will be glad to join. I have limited bandwidth but would like to see if there's anything I can help.
