@lilyclements Looking more closely that these example graphs, they are really just the time series plots but with bars instead of lines. So I added an option to use geom_col in the timeseries_plot here #56. I think this then achieves the graphs here.
From a quick look at the histogram_plot function, it seems to be doing something quite different, and is instead plotting the counts of the dates? Something like that might be useful too, but I think it's not the same as this?
