Sounds good. DMs would probably be ideal for most things unless you have some trust level between users on twitter and your bot.

Just to get an idea of the workflow for the end user:
- Get running, whether it's locally or on Heroku (or something similar).
- You are presented with the Twitter login page. Once logged in, you get a out-of-band PIN code.
- Give Hubot the PIN code.
I may be misunderstanding how Hubot or Twitter's authentication works, but this seems the way to go.

I was thinking that the bot would listen to it's followers only for @ mentions. And also DMs
from hubot.
Yeah, it also needs to follow the people that follow it in order to receive DMs from them.

Looking at twitter it seems that @MathildeLemee already has one working. Maybe she can share the code.

Well that was fast. It doesn't look like she's committed the changes to her repo yet, though.

👍 Yea, I meant to say, The bot listens to everyone that that bot follows just like the chat room, and when one of those user tweets @hubot mustache @atmos the bot responds

It seems that the twitter streaming API supports getting updates for @mentions as well as direct messages. It seems that a twitter adapter could work in fairly decent real time.
