A flat theme with transparent elements
License: GNU General Public License v3.0
Self-explanatory title.
Would be great, as Cinnamon has very few good themes.
Probably wouldn't be too hard either since the DEs are very similar technologically, but I wouldn't know.
Could you add a --disable-transparency, like in the other options?
I like the theme, but I'm not a big fan of the see-through window borders/sidebar/etc.
the color of the desktop-icons-text is white, without shadow the text is not readable on a bright background image.
Solution (add text-shadow):
.nautilus-desktop.nautilus-canvas-item, .nemo-desktop.nemo-canvas-item {
color: #ffffff;
text-shadow: 1 1 alpha (@fg_color, 0.8); }
It's white color, I love white color, but this one is different, It hurts my eyes.
Hello @horst3180 I have seen that Pantheon files has an issue on it's sidebar, can you fix it?
I'm using the branch for 3.14, with Debian on 3.14. When a window regains focus, the internal part changes it's colour to that of the window border again.
On a side note: I'm not sure it it's just me, but the distance between the window options seem just a bit too far apart from each other. Is that indented?
There is this transparency glitch when watching videos on the native elementaryOS video player. Either the video playback is transparency or the video player itself turned transparency.
I am 100% positiv that is caused by Arc-theme, because this glitch won't appear in elementary's stock theme.

Hi,
I ve started to use ur theme and indeed it is awesome. I see only 2 problem and both about fonts.
First, Desktop shotcuts' fonts dont have shadow and shortcuts name blend over open color backgrounds
For the second, I attached a screenshot. The extension's fonts and symbols are so similiar to background.
Best regards.
I noticed some strange looking shapes for drop down boxes ( in the sidebar and header) in Libreoffice , I've also noticed this potential deformation with Shutter with the delay timer. I was wondering if this is a design choice or a bug?
My OS is ubuntu 15.04 with GNOME 3.14 and i pulled the Arc theme from Git today (1/6/15)
Even after disabling overlay scrollbars the background in Gedit is black:

I can't see the problem elsewhere (this is usually related to tabs/tab backgrounds) but considering that overlay scrollbars are a major feature of the DE, and Gedit a core Gnome app, I thought it worth reporting.

I think it's probably a better idea to at least make Gtk.Entry boxes less rounded and more square. It doesn't visually fit very well, and the cursor bar quite often almost overlaps the curves and looks quite ugly.
Nice theme, but I cant get global dark theme to work
Hello!
Fabulous theme, thanks!
However, I have found an incompatibility between the shell theme and the Topicons extension.
https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/495/topicons/
The shell restarts once at every login or unlock when the extension is on. The shell can even crash altogether if the extension is started manually in the tweak tool.
Don't know if it is the theme or the extension at fault...
Would it be possible to add support for transparency in pantheon terminal? I'm not sure if this still works.
Hello,
I wasn't sure how to contact you. I really love you new theme and would like to feature it on oduso. We already include your vertex theme. I just saw that you provide a repository on opensuse. Currently the script downloads the zip from deviantart and moves it into the system theme directory. I will do some testing in freya and adjust the website.
Could you please inform me when your new Arc theme is also available from the repo? I can then add it to oduso. By clicking on the image you can see a brief description and a link to the theme page.
Cheers,
lorenzbi
A donation button somewhere to keep you a motivated and some people are surely willing do give you a small tip (please not in the gtk theme)
I encountered a very noticeable bug concerning the Youtube player Minitube.
The application's search boxes contain gray rectangles (one being darker than the other). Moreover there is a white rectangular background around the top search box.
Minitube is written in Qt and the theme is applied by selecting "Gtk+" in the GUI Style section of qtconfig-qt4
. If I am not mistaken, Qt apps deduce the GTK style from the GTK2 section of a theme.
I am using the Gala window manager on Arch Linux if that makes any difference. My setup consists almost exclusively of Gnome, Pantheon, Budgie or other GTK applications. The only exceptions being Minitube and Okular, for which I simply cannot find worthy GTK equivalents ๐
That leads me to another interesting point: This problem does not occur in Okular's seach dialog, as can bee seen in the attached screenshot:
I know that Qt compatibility is probably not among the highest priorities so far. That being said I have been using your Vertex and Ceti themes because not only they look great (which they do indeed!) but also because they are the most complete and bug free themes across all applications and window toolkits ๐
I would love to see the Arc theme keeping up those quality standards of yours, once progress on more essential things has been made ๐
Without hinting:
With hinting:
Hopefully you can see the font difference in the top bar (specifically the date). I noticed that with hinting looks like the default shell theme without hinting and without hinting looks like the default shell theme with hinting. I'm not 100% if this is a problem with the theme or with gnome shell (this is gnome shell 3.16.2 by the way on Arch)
I'm getting the following error:
$ git rev-list --tags --max-count=1
usage: git rev-list [OPTION] ... [ -- paths... ]
also, there is no release to download from here: https://github.com/horst3180/arc-theme/releases
They just don't show - I'm looking at the gtk-contained.css (line 1387 and following) but it doesn't seem to have any effects at all.
For elementary OS.
