I seem to recall there being another issue where even though GTK+-based apps build correctly (with some LD_LIBRARY_PATH and PKG_CONFIG_PATH hacking) but don't run because of missing or misconfigured XDG_DATA_DIRS. I'll see if I can find it.

Linuxbrew/legacy-linuxbrew#919 adds a brew doctor check to check that XDG_DATA_DIRS is set correctly. @DoomHammer Piotr, could you please migrate this PR over to the Linuxbrew/brew repo?
