The mod is currently made for client-server mode, hence the admin can edit audionodes and normal users can use them.

In singleplayer mode both roles come together, therefore the singleuser will edit audionodes and use them. Should we adapt the interface?

In case we use a lot of larger audio files, we might face a problem, in case all these files get transferred to each client at login time, regardless whether these files will be used by that client or not.

Can we somehow get sound files lazily transferred to the client?

What if we initially put the sound files in a "hidden" directory within "sounds", i.e. a dir whose name starts with a "_", c.f. https://github.com/minetest/minetest/blob/28fce8aad58a10b45248c5dbc4ce8b0a534740a2/doc/lua_api.md?plain=1#L258
