Impact-of-News-Headlines-on-Stock-Indices

The idea for this piece of work was to investigate the impact of general news headlines on global stock indices.

The Guardian API was used to request all news articles between 2004 and 2019. Sentiment analysis was run on the news headlines using TextBlob and Vader.

LDA was also run to classify news headlines into different topics.

The PDF file shows a summary of the findings from this investigation.

Future Work

  • Run LSTM
  • Use different news outlets to see how the stock indices change
  • Identify other factors that affect the stock index.
