Virtual key presses only work some of the time

Im using InputSimulator to simulate keyboard inputs, but they only work some of time, its not consistent. How could I make virtual inputs from a separate class? I'm trying to hook up a discord bot and I have that running on a different thread of the program, and while using the bot to make virtual keypresses works on every other program, it doesn't work on the CrystalBoy program consistently.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Load Bart Simpson's Escape from Camp Deadly
2. Get hit by an enemy

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Should leave the ei routine (0x2ed2), instead it never does, hanging the game.
