forkizard

A wizard for comparing GitHub forks.

Will become useless once GitHub displays the number of ahead/behind commits on the Forks page!

Problem

StackOverflow: How to determine which forks on GitHub are ahead?

Solution

Since there does not seem to be an API for that, we scrape the info message of each GitHub fork.

Usage

Build with go build and run forkizard org/repo:

$ ./forkizard k0kubun/pp

Building with Docker

To build without installing golang, run:

Bugs

Current version might not compare subforks well.

forkizard's Issues

"This branch is even with master."

Looks like GitHub switched to dynamically updating this info.

When https://github.com/abitrolly/forkizard is open in browser, it shows that the repo is 1 commit ahead, but curl and forkizard only get test that the branch is even,

Executable built with Docker doesn't work on Mac OS

An executable built with bin/build (from #1) doesn't run on Mac OS:

Run stop with 100%

But stop at end with not showing.
