The first example for classes is incorrect, and will not compile. Instead of

class Person
{
public:
    int age;
}

It should be

class Person
{
public:
    int age;
};

A minor fix, but this could confuse beginners to C++ and so it would be good advice to change the incorrect example to the fix i given.

Migrate the project to Cmake, if we decide to resume work on it. Makefiles are cumbersome to work with for large projects, and can't have things like conditional logic in them.

@Animojis recently suggested the idea of moving to C in order to create wrapper libraries for other languages (including C++). This could be a great way to get the library used in more places.

The entire library is based on subclasses and virtual functions, C does not support either concept but emulating them (while adding more customization as such) is possible. The library also widely uses std::vector, a replacement would need to be implemented in C.

To me the subclassing and vectors are the two biggest hurdles in moving the library to C but
with the workarounds discussed above I believe it should be fairly easy to move to C.
