Ansible project for setting up the machines

Setup Physical machines

playbooks/physical_machines.yaml will run the following playbooks on hosts defined in inventory.physical_machines

  • setup_vlan.yaml: sets up VLAN configurations on machines' network interface.
  • setup_virtualization.yaml: installs qemu on machines, and starts it.
  • setup_network_bridge.yaml: creates network bridge that can be used to bridge virtual networks to vlan.
  • setup_dhcp_server.yaml: setup dhcp server and starts it.
  • setup_dns_server.yaml: setup local dns server and starts it.

Notes on ip address ranges

  • VLAN subnet: 192.168.100.0/24
  • VLAN gateway: 192.168.100.2/24
  • VLAN DHCP/DNS server: 192.168.100.3/24
  • The first 10 addresses on the subnet is reserved for static allocation
    • 192.168.100.1 ~ 192.168.100.10
    • the DHCP server will use the rest of the IPs available
