ghana_cdr_aggregation's Introduction

Hi there ๐Ÿ‘‹

I'm a PhD Student at University College London. I study large-scale mobility datasets to improve their use in emergencies. You can see more about my research interests here.

  • Since 2021, I've been a PhD student in the UCL Department of Geography.
  • From 2018 to 2021, I was a Research Assistant at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM).
  • At LSHTM, I studied behavioral responses to COVID-19 travel restrictions. This led to publications in Nature Communications and PLOS Computational Biology. I also helped create the WHO Public Health and Social Measures dataset.
  • In 2018, I recieved my MSc in Geoinformation Technology and Cartography at the University of Glasgow. In my thesis, I used multi-sensor remote sensing data to measure vegetation growth.
  • In 2017, I graduated from Syracuse University with a BA in Geography and minors in Spanish and Applied Statistics.

ghana_cdr_aggregation's Issues

Positive differences between sequential and all pairs networks

There are a few values with positive differences for journeys in the (all pairs network) - (sequential network). This should be impossible and likely results from fewer records in the sequential network (because journeys are less likely to rise above the censoring threshold as we hypothesis).

In that case - would it be better to use the sum, not the daily mean?

Here is an example:

Screen Shot 2022-04-28 at 11 05 32 AM

Where value_....x is the all_pairs value and value..._.y is the sequential.

Clearly - what is happening is that this journey is only sampled for one day (presumably one day with high travel), then the sequential mean uses n=1 while the all pairs mean has a higher n.
