Downloads

If you would like to run the Googol GLaDOS Simulator on your own machine, you can download the code here:

Googol GLaDOS Simulator v3.0.1

Installing

To run the simulator, you would need to install:

• Node.js
• Bower

Once you have these, clone this repo, open a Terminal and run:

[sudo] npm install && [sudo] bower install ; node app.js

If you don't wish to download and run the simulator on your computer, you are free to host your own version by yourself.

If you really are in a hurry and want to get started quickly, You can deploy your own version to Heroku by clicking 'Deploy to Heroku' (Requires a Heroku Account.)

Migrating to Nunjucks template engine

Swig is no longer maintained according to https://github.com/paularmstrong/swig/issues/628. Next release will use Nunjucks as the author suggested.

Mozilla Firefox sound issue in Windows 7

Firefox not playing the sound or not loading sound in Windows 7.

Sound still not being heard on some browsers.

hmm. Some people still can't hear GLaDOS talking on their browsers.

Browsers affected:
IE ?
All mobile devices.

Browser Detection

Because everybody uses different browsers.

Edit: That has been implemented and it's live.

Get sound working on other devices other than PC.

Because not everyone is a PC.

The audio on the simulator uses howler.js's autoplay.

This means as soon as the page has loaded, the sound will play.

v3.0.1 features Checklist.

Since the main online Googol GLaDOS Simulator has moved to Heroku for hosting, I have considered cleaning up the code before it becomes unmaintained for good. I want people to fork this repo knowing that the code is exactly the same as the one on the original server.

So here is a checklist for some additional features to v3.0.1. The majority of work will be on the v3.0.1-features branch.

• Fix any outstanding bugs.
• Cleanup and polish code.
• Update, fix and add more javascript animations.
• Migrate from swig
• Rewrite routing logic.
• Properly cache sounds before playing them.

Google Chrome downloads multiple files from simulator...

Google Chrome automatically downloads the audio files on Windows and Linux.

Probably cache related will fix this soon.

A bunch of GLaDOS's speak all at once.

Looks like they all want to talk at once, however this bug ruins the simulator in a way.

again, another audio problem.

Because nobody reads the instructions.
