Use the make command to complile and build the module 
insert the module(.ko file) using insmod command
View /proc/devices for the Major number of the driver registered by name RAO's Driver
create a character device  in /dev with the same Major number using mknod command 
Write a string into the creating device using ' echo > "string" ', Each character of the written string will displayed in a new line .View it using dmesg command

"index" varibale not declared in fops.c

Hello ,
In your scull driver code , there is an error in Line 66 , Because Index variable is not declared anywhere .

Some function declared and defined but have no use in code?

What is the use of scull_setup_cdev() function ,here??
If you comment it or delete it then also code works after cleaning some errors in your code.
And , I think cdev set-up and registration in scull is done by only this function, scull_setup_cdev()?
