Gantry mod for the ender 6

Currently there are two options available - GR6 and GR9.

It is recommended to look at GR9 as your first option as it is the simpliest upgrade path from a stock Ender 6. GR6 is only for those that wish to run a 6mm belt setup to possibly use the VZBot style of EVA tool heads. Definitely for those more experienced in modifying or customising printers.

The GR9 version is designed to be built with as much of the stock system as possible. Belts, Pulleys, Spacers, Motherboard and Steppers can all be reused or upgraded if you wish. This flexibilty makes this a cheap upgrade to gain access to the brilliant EVA tool head system.

Incorrect idler size

Discrepancy between current version and VC1.3 upon which the current kinematics is based. This means the belts aren't running parallel on the X and Y directions.

• VC1.3 uses OpenBuild toothless pulleys with a OD/ID of 22/18mm vs the plan to use GT2 pulleys with a OD/ID of 16/12mm.
• VC1.3 also uses a MGN15 EVA carriage.

Frame supports needed

The frame needs stiffening at higher accelerations. Corner braces should be a simple printed fix.

In gantry section there is 3 left sides and 1 right side in the stock pulley section

Increase tolerances on Gantry mount

Tolerances on x 2020 can be increased slight as we use fittings to secure it. Should also fillet edge to help guide it in

Add Y position end stop to Pulley Idler

Add a standoff to allow Y end stop via homeless sensor to Idler pulley.
Add M2 holes to allow mounting of a microswitch

@Johnnymakesthings to confirm the dimensions and allow maximum bed use.

Note: Needs to be orientated to avoid having to support this print as it is currently an unsupported part

Rail bracket need improving/redesign

Not happy with the Gantry_Mount_RailBracket[L]{b}. It needs a better design to allow for easier printing and no supports

Add MGN guides to the STL pack

We need a MGN9 positioning guide in the pack of STLs. Same goes for MGN12 I guess

2x MGN9 rails for Y gantry (MGN12 will not fit inside the panels)

Make Project 100% MIT Compliant.

This is opened to track changes needed in order to mark which files need changing.

Gantry mount needs supports to print

Missing a couple key fillets, means it needs to be printed with supports. This is a pain in the arse need to fix.

Clean up the gantry carriage

Tidy up inner arc while maintaining clearances.

Add wings to support the MGN9 X rail and centre it over the 2020

Idler spacers

Cant find the stls for the 7 and 5 mm spacers called for in the idler section.

3MF files

Can you add 3mf files with recommended slicing settings / orientation? We may also need to rename that stl folder to to print
with sub folders for each file type. let me know what you think.

Motor mount position back 9mm

We stand to gain build area by moving the motor mount position back 9mm.

Fix file naming scheme

I noticed unneeded 2.5 files still in the repo. please post a PR with the proper changes.

Add support for MGN12 rails on Y

This will also need to mention the use of spacers for side panels, maybe make them a printed item too
