Following code works for me.

middleware: function(connect, options, middlewares) {
    return [
        // inject a PRETTY URL middleware
        function(req, res, next) {
            var suffix = '.html',
                url = req.url,
                urlLength = url.length;
            if (urlLength > 1 && url.indexOf('.') === -1) {
                req.url += suffix;
