Will not open after upgrading to OS X 10.7 Lion yesterday. Since a double headed arrow appears when the edge of the window is reached by the cursor now, so you can move the edge of the window (like Microsoft Windows), it seems to over ride Vertical Toolbar.
Thanks for your help,
Tom
After having upgraded Firefox 38.0.2 to 41.0 hiding (and un-hiding) VT (1.0.9.1) in full screen mode (Youtube) doesn't work properly. Options are set to Normal: Always show and Full Screen: Never show.
When I switch a video to full screen mode, VT remains visible but disappears when I return to normal mode. Switching to other tabs doesn't bring VT back. I can only make it visible again by invoking the VT options dialog and pressing Done.
This may very well be a Firefox issue; I didn't find anything on Bugzilla yet (but I'm quite bad at finding things there;-)
my bug is that it stays open after a customize is opened/or
on restart i have Classic Theme Restorer to dont know if that have problems with it
the icons get relay big and the options well not close
User Agent Overrider button will restore the location although have put it beyond webtools button
same problem is reported on mozilla site.
https://addons.mozilla.org/ja/firefox/addon/vertical-toolbar/
After update Firefox to ver.43 the icons on verticaltoolbar have become very large. Pleas, if possible, fix it. Thanks.
Vertical toolbar adds this CSS
/* ::::: for Personas compatibility ::::: */
background-repeat: repeat !important;
}
This is just wrong.
You should not be forcing personas to repeat in every direction.
I'm guessing you want them to repeat vertically so you get a background for your toolbar.
This is breaking our Personas Interactive addon horribly.

FF nightly 56.0a1 (2017-07-07) (32-bit) (Photon)
It says
"Vertical Toolbar has been disabled since it is not multiprocess compatible"
やばい、どうしよう
Step to reproduce:
(1) Set the Vertical Toolbar Options as below:
(2) Customize toolbar and put 'Always show' button
(3) Enter the full screen mode
(4) Click 'Always show' button
(5) Click 'Always show' button again
Expected Result:
Vertical Toolbar will automatically hide.
Actual Result:
Vertical Toolbar will not hide.
The auto-hide functionality is difficult to use in a multi-monitor environment where you have another monitor on the same side of the browser as the toolbar (or while the window is not maximized) - there is about 1 pixel of "show the toolbar" space which is easy to roll right over unless it's at the edge of the screen.
Enhancement Requested: Adjustable width for the "show the toolbar" space on the side of the window.
On Mac OS X, the Vertical Toolbar Options window lacks the height.
Step to Reproduce:
Actual Results:
The toolbar button is not pressed in private browsing mode.
Expected Results:
The toolbar button should be pressed in private browsing mode.
Hi,
Do you plan to support e10s?
If so, will your add-on will support webextensions too?
Thank you for your work, great add-on.
Regards,
I have Vertical Toolbar with text+icons, and some bookmarks. When I updated to FF 44.0, the toolbar became very narrow, roughly 2.5 times the width of the icon, so I can't really see the bookmark names. If I set it to text only, the toolbar is wider and the full names are shown.
What I would like is a way to manually set the width (like in All-in-One).
Sorry to dual post here and on the mozilla addon page,
I had no idea it's a github repo is available,
I've marked my remark on the addon page for be deleted.
Anyway when adding addons' icons with dropdown menu like Greasmonkey and Print Edit the toolbar doesn't closed fully.
Here're my screenshots at http://imgur.com/a/gjDuk .
Tested on Firefox 19 for Linux (Gnome Desktop with the Maximux extention on Arch Linux).
p.s.
Thanks for this great addon.
Hi,
I use Vertical Toolbar constantly, and enjoy using it.
I have encountered an issue which I cannot rectify it is;
I use the browser Comodo icedragon - however the "Offline", "Print", "Full page" icons are missing from the bottom of Verticaltoolbar.
As a test I loaded Verticaltoolbar into the latest version of Firefox and they are present.
Please can you tell me how I can restore them to Icedragon?
I have removed and re-installed Verticaltoolbar in Icedragon but this issue remains.
I attach x snapshots.
Appreciate your help.
Thanks.
Step to reproduce:
Actual Result:
Toolbar customize palette appears doubly as described by the screenshot.
Expected Result:
'Vertical Toolbar Options' should be disabled, if toolbar customize palette is open.
This week my Firefox auto-updated to 44.0.1. Since then, the bookmark toolbar items, which I placed on the vertical toolbar, do not show anymore. If I change vertical toolbar options to show "icons and text", then both the icons and the text appear. Text-only also works. But whenever I select to show only icons, they don't appear on the vertical toolbar anymore.
Step to Reproduce:
Actual Results:
A blank stripe appears at the bottom of the browser.

Expected Results:
No blank stripe appears.
The autohide fonction doesn't work when you open a new window and/or start Firefox.
You need to open then close the setting menu to make the hide automatically works again.
Please do vertical toolbar some wider like in Opera presto
Please add this option
Step to reproduce:
(1) Set the Vertical Toolbar Options as below:
(2) Turn on the full screen mode
(3) Open the Bookmarks Sidebar
(4) Close the Bookmarks Sidebar
Expected Result:
Vertical Toolbar will automatically hide after closing the sidebar.
Actual Result:
Vertical Toolbar will not hide after closing the sidebar.
Steps to Reproduce:
Actual Result:
Toolbar buttons don't have borders.
Expected Result:
Toolbar buttons have borders.
If you have Vertical Toolbar set to auto-hide and also have Hide Caption Titlebar Plus installed, then when you are in a non-maximised window, you can't access Vertical Toolbar at all.
At this time, when we place Bookmark Items on the vertical toolbar, the items are displayed horizontally.
It would be better if they will be displayed vertically.
Steps to Reproduce:
Actual Result:
Toolbar buttons have borders.
Expected Result:
Toolbar buttons don't have borders.
Sir,
As you may know, Vertical Toolbar will not work in Firefox after version 57 (If you were not aware of this, see this article or do a Google search on Firefox addons and check out the Google "News" tab).
I would like you to know that there is a browser where your add-on will still continue to work into the foreseeable future. If you would be so kind as to examine the Pale Moon browser you will find not only a great browser but a very active development community dedicated to keeping the old Firefox values of speed and customizability alive.
In Pale Moon, your Vertical Toolbar add-on currently works when installed via the Moon Tester Tool, which you can find here. Once you have Pale Moon installed and assuming you already have the Vertical Toolbar xpi file handy on your computer, open the Moon Tester Tool in the extensions page and press the "Select File" button. Select the Vertical Toolbar xpi file. Once it has installed, you can then customize it however you wish - it works great!
Vertical Toolbar is a great add-on. Mozilla has done a great disservice to both the Firefox user and Firefox add-on communities by moving away from XUL. In my opinion, Firefox has become just another version of Google Chrome. Vertical Toolbar needs just a little tweaking to work with Pale Moon without having to resort to the Moon Tester tool. Please consider investing the small amount of time it would take to make your add-on compatible with Pale Moon.
Thank you for your time.
When you add the bookmarks toolbar to the vertical toolbar, separators don't show up. They should be shown similar to how they're shown in the bookmarks menu.

This used to work as desired when using Vertical Toolbar plus the old https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/vertical-bookmarks-toolbar/ extension.

See the back/forward arrows with default FF style, where border show only on mouse over. Can you follow it?
Thank you!
Please add support for syncing settings.
Sync methods are enumerated in "Are Add-on Settings Synchronized?"
on https://wiki.mozilla.org/Services/Sync/Addon_Sync.
Export/import to file would also be very useful.
Thank you.
Currently, I use the following DOM Mutation events:
Step to reproduce:
Actual Result:
Bookmark context menu breaks and an error occurs in Error Console:
Error: NS_ERROR_FAILURE: Component returned failure code: 0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE) [nsIControllers.removeController]
Source File: chrome://browser/content/places/browserPlacesViews.js
Line: 690
Expected Result:
Bookmarks context menu works and no error occurs.
Step to reproduce:
Expected Result:
Customization window will open.
Actual Result:
Customization window will not open.
Error Console:
NS_ERROR_FAILURE: Component returned failure code: 0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE) [nsIControllers.removeController]

Step to Reproduce:
Actual Result:
toolbox#vertical-toolbox moves to the right-side of vbox#browser-border-end.
Expected Result:
toolbox#vertical-toolbox moves to the left-side of vbox#browser-border-end.
Although vbox#browser-border-end is an invisible element, we should keep it at the end of the browser window.
Step to Reproduce:
Expected Result:
Changing option affects window A and B.
Actual Result:
Changing option affects window A, but not B.
There is a conflict with https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/personal-titlebar/ - if that one is installed, you cannot directly drag icons back into the customize toolbar box. You have to drag them from the Vertical toolbar to another toolbar, close and reopen the customize dialog and then drag it back to the box.
In full screen mode, 'Customize' button in Options window should be disabled like the context-menu in toolbars are disabled.
See screenshot bellow of my Speed Dial addon:
http://i.minus.com/ibwCXpYavIMjum.png
To restore full size I need to restore window and maximize again. This issue occur only when Vertical Toolbar addon is enabled.
Same problem on Google Reader (it's a apptab on my session restore) and other pages.
Can you fix it?
Thanks!
Step to Reproduce:
Actual Result:
We get the following error in Error Console:
Error: TypeError: elt is null
Currently when you have the bookmarks bar on the vertical toolbar, folders open to the bottom—
—or if there's not enough space, the top. This interferes with selecting the desired folder. It also prevents folders with many entries from using the full screen height available:
The menu should open to the side, like how the system start menu works:

If I recall correctly, this used to work as desired when using Vertical Toolbar plus the old https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/vertical-bookmarks-toolbar/ extension.
