The community page on https://www.gluster.org/community/ could use some enhancements for the IRC logs:
There is also https://webchat.freenode.net/ that can be used for users new to IRC. The channel list is modifiable by passing the channel as URL parameter like https://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=#gluster
On https://www.gluster.org/release-schedule/ , there is content for pre-3.8, post 3.8, and then the release schedule, along the EOL information.
I think what matter is the EOL information, and the pre-3.8 information are just historical reference that people may not need, especially at the top of the page.
Could the content be reordered ?
https://www.youtube.com/user/GlusterCommunity needs to be correctly linked. See https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1692879 filed by Aravinda
The aliases used for security (security@gluster ) is no present on any webpage, and we have no page related to security reporting (o r even listing security issue, or policy regarding security bugs, etc). I think we had one on the old page.
So, while looking on https://www.gluster.org/release-schedule/ , I started to wonder what EOL mean, and there is no explanation on it anywehre.
For example, does that mean we will remove content from the download server, does that mean that all bugs are gonna be closed and/or considered, that documentation is gonna be cleaned up ?
As we have people coming on IRC with EOL version, a clear text to set expectation and to be able to give to people would greatly help on that front.
After a failed attempt to make the planet part of the WordPress platform, we're reverting back to the other planet, https://github.com/gluster/planet-gluster/
There's a theming issue on the front page that's pulling the [bad] planet in automagically.
To fix:
https://www.gluster.org/announcing-gluster-4-0/ has some links, like for example https://docs.gluster.org/en/latest/release-notes/4.0.0.md/ => "This page does not exist yet"
It should be instead https://docs.gluster.org/en/latest/release-notes/4.0.0/
The website could use a press kit page - about Gluster, various logo sizes, wordmarks.
The contents on https://www.gluster.org/legal-page/terms-of-service/ seems to relate to (old?) Inktank/Ceph websites, not Gluster. I could not find a similar page under https://github.com/gluster/glusterweb/tree/951ae79b/source , otherwise I would have pointed to the previous text that was (was there?) on gluster.org.
Just noticed that the Gluster website doesn't seem to have a working favicon.ico. Is that a known problem?
If I fork this project, some files are missing in the forked project. For example, I forked glusterweb,
Now here:
https://github.com/SaravanaStorageNetwork/glusterweb/tree/master/source/community
But roadmap directory is missing here.
But, you can see it here:
https://github.com/gluster/glusterweb/tree/master/source/community/roadmap/
Can you help?
For a reason that I do not truly understand, there seems to have duplicated tags in the DB, as seen by scrolling any blog post.
For example:
https://www.gluster.org/?s=netbsd
I see cloud twice, events twice, several variation of "file systems", 2 KVM, 2 planet, 2 open source, 2 "puppet", Red hat and redhat, Screencast and screencasts and maybe others.
So variation are caused by the aggregation on the planet side and likely can't be fixed. But duplicate tags are weirder, so I wonder if there is some change in case somewhere down the line that do result in a bug.
Following last issue ( #154 ), I tried to run linkchecker, but it seems to fail due to the current robots.txt, who seems to be slightly restrictive:
$ curl https://www.gluster.org/robots.txt
User-agent: *
Disallow: /
Could we open it it up a bit for linkchecker to work ?
So, while I do not want to say that consultancies are not part of the community, I think that this part of the page do not bring anything useful to the reader, since that's just a recap of what is Gluster (in the middle of the page ), and not related to the title of that sub part, nor the topic (community).
On https://www.gluster.org/install/ , the link to 3.12 is broken, it seems the generate url is incorrect.
For example on https://www.gluster.org/use-dnsmasq-for-separating-dns-queries/
The button on the right ("Contribute!") do link to https://www.gluster.org/community/contribute/
This is a page that no longer exist and so a 404 page
Kadalu.io is a company which provides systems integration, architecture and performance optimization consultancy for Gluster users. This ticket is to track the request for adding a new entry under the page at https://www.gluster.org/support/
@amarts and @aravindavk FYI
The 'News' menu on the website links to 'Gluster.org Blog' with the URL https://www.gluster.org/blog .
Instead of landing on the first page of the blog, users are redirected to an old blog post at https://www.gluster.org/blog-post-1-source-build-and-install/
This redirection must be fixed, or the link needs to be removed from the website.
System Admin guide URL should be
http://gluster.readthedocs.org/en/latest/Administrator%20Guide/
not
http://gluster.readthedocs.org/en/latest/Administrator%20Guide/README/
this is from
On the bottom of https://www.gluster.org/community/ the links under Development point to the current page.
The consultancy page ( https://www.gluster.org/support/ ) do not have any link to the various companies offers, and I think this would help give them traffic.
There's an invalid certificate for gluster.org. I do see that https://www.gluster.org/ does work, so it's a redirction problem with how gluster.org is set up.
On https://www.gluster.org/community/ , there is a icon "report a problem to gluster, open a new bug" (in the green zone, 3rd white square). The link return to the top of the page itself, which is not exactly clear or helpful, and should likely go to bugzilla directly.
Either markdown isn't rendering correctly, or the features list is actually missing for 3.8.

The Maintainers meeting Hackpad (https://hackmd.io/MYTgzADARgplCGBaA7DArMxAWAZvATIiFhJgCYarBQCMCYIQA===?both) is getting a little overrun with past meeting notes.
This issue is to track work against making a new place on the website for meeting notes, both Maintainers, Community meeting and ?
Today on irc:
01:25:34| wetpaste> also want to clarify, what actually IS the latest stable version
01:25:39| wetpaste> is it 3.12?
01:30:31| misc> yes, soon 4.0
01:35:33| wetpaste> got it. I was a little unclear because on this part of the site https://www.gluster.org/install/ - it says 3.12 is the “latest” but it also links
right next to it 3.10 as “stable”
01:35:34| @glusterbot> Title: Gluster » Install (at www.gluster.org)
01:36:00| wetpaste> which I thought might be implying that 3.12 wasn’t considered stable
Guess the page could indeed be improved and maybe link to https://www.gluster.org/release-schedule/ (because if someone is looking at installing Gluster, what version to pick is a information that would be relevant)
Some of the links in the footer of the pages point to "beta.gluster.org" instead of www.gluster.org. At least the following ones show the problem:
On the web page for support, we have several company listed , but no link to their website. I think it would be helpful to have links there that point to their pages.
The link to https://www.gluster.org/planet, in the menu, is a 404 (which do pollute a bit the result of linkchecker).
With the Consultants page, it is kind of difficult for a person-not-already-familiar-with-our-Community to know which companies are contributors or not:
http://www.gluster.org/consultants/
It might be a good idea to have something (gold star with link/hover text?) to indicate the companies putting time into developing the Gluster Community (in whatever form).
I believe we need to update, glusterweb/source/community/index.html.haml to point to glusterdocs github repository for users to file issues against documentation on github.
Right now it points to Bugzilla to file issues against documentation. ("...Report a problem in Documentation", "https://bugzilla.redhat.com/enter_bug.cgi?product=Gluster-Documentation" )
I can submit a PR if this seems right.
Just took at look at the gluster.org website out of curiosity. The "NEWS" link in the footer goes to only extremely old (2019) content, giving a really bad impression of project activity:
https://www.gluster.org/category/planet/.
Maybe replace that NEWS item with a BLOG one, linking to the much more recent and relevant (2020) blog posts? 😄
This repo has been deprecated for ~18 months. Unless someone has a reason to keep it open, it will be archived on or after March 22, 2019.

In this page: https://www.gluster.org/release-schedule/ needs some restructuring.
So in short reconsider this page and rehash it to read better.
