scientific-python's Issues

Benchmark text data reading

numpy has many functions to read textual data:

• np.genfromtxt
• np.loadtxt
• np.fromfile
• np.fromtxt

The performance of np.fromtxt is really poor, but it would be interesting to see how the others stack up.
