cif-parsers's Issues

distinguishing `.` and `?` in mmJSON

For the context: I added reading/writing mmJSON to the library I'm working on and when I test it by converting mmCIF <-> mmJSON I see two problems. One is the ambiguity between strings and numbers in the CIF format and it can be helped only by wwPDB if they'd quote strings that are valid numbers. The other is translating null to a CIF value.

I understand that for all practical purposes other than translating to CIF it is simpler to have a single representation of both . and ?. On the other hand being able to translate to CIF would add value to the mmJSON format. One way of differentiating could be the convention from recently specified CIF-JSON format:
? = null,
. = false.

details of the format

Hi, I just came across mmJSON and I really like it (a similar idea called CIF-JSON was discussed recently on cif-developers mailing list).
Could you add more details to the documentation? For example, the current example doesn't show how . and ? are represented in mmJSON. Or maybe it's already documented somewhere?
