Steam Achievement Manager

This is the code for SAM, originally released in 2008, last major release in 2011, and last updated in 2013 (a hotfix).

The code is being made available so that those interested can do as they like with it.

There are some changes to the code since the last closed-source release:

• General code maintenance to bring it into a more modern state.
• Icons have been replaced with ones from the Fugue Icons set.
• Version has been bumped to 7.0.x.x to indicate the open-source release.

Protected achievements

Is there a way to unlock protected Steam achievements with SAM? Or there is the possibility that in a few time this achievements toggle their status?

SkyrimSSE: Progressive Unlock of Achievements?

The idea is based on an alternative to what XShadowman has already done, however the way it's set up for users may not be agreeable to everyone.
Let's suppose we load up a SKSE64 based plugin that reads game data which is interpreted as being eligible for achievements. We then, with the assistance of SAM methods, and, with a modded game, are able to view a progressive tally of achievements on Steam like it was back in Oldrim.
A super easy way is for the SKSE64 based plugin to simply dump the relevant data to a csv or similar, and for SAM to update the results on next run. Or we can use something like a SAM dll plugin also configured via the integrated SSE plugin in the game MCM menu. The second method would be less intrusive, and more user friendly.
Absolutely convinced this method of achievement_control is on par- or better than the above-mentioned alternative.

Checkmarks broken

Checkmarks always check all achievements without checking which are already unlocked, changing settings around doesn't help.

No-icon mode

When you have too many games, the application freezes trying to pull all of the icons from the steam api. Is it possible to have an option to the set the application to just text mode only (disabling the icons)? It would require a settings file to make the change consistent for each start up after the initial setting, while allowing the mode to be switched back and forth on a user need basis. (So basically a view mode, like in the windows explorer UI).

"Retrieving stat information..."

I tried loading multiple games and none of them seem to bring up any achievements. It'll just stay blank after I pick a game and just say "Retrieving stat information..." Is this version of SAM not updated or is there something I'm missing?
Tried running as admin with both SAM Game.exe and SAM Picker.exe, tried deleting and re downloading the latest version, tried troubleshooting it, I even tried waiting an hour to see if it was because it was just slow for some reason but still nothing.

Add auto-update support

Add in-program direct to this project. It can allow user to check for update by clicking the button and show your name of the creator of this program

How does this work?

All of the videos i've seen on this were before it was on GitHub. The files look different now, so i can't figure out how to open it. If someone could point me in the right direction that would be great.

Server-side achievements

I know that SAM does not bypass and does not reach server-side achievements but do you know any other tool to unlock them?

Error edditing games

it says this for every game I try and load: Error Failed to start SAM.Game.exe. so I have no idea what is wrong or if I just didn't do it right or what someone help

I cant clear recent activity on Steam

There used to be 4 different boxes on sam picker in russian which you would click to clear recent activity. Today when i tried to clear recent activity the boxes werent there

I am trying to set rank to just 15, and I know that to give yourself rank 1, you change the number in SAM to 90. So I did math stuff to try to find out what number rank 15 would be. I did 90 divided by 20 (20 ranks in game), which is 4.5. 4.5 times 15 (my wanted rank) equals 67.5. So I tried entering this number in SAM but I get a red alert icon next to the box and cannot store items. Why is this? I want rank 15 because I don't want to go all the way to rank 1 just like that. And I always get paired with people that are new since ranks are reset monthly I think and always end up dying because of teammates. (I'm not trying to say I'm better than all of them)

Serverside Achievements.

Is there really not the slightest chance of unlocking the server side achievements? After all, you do not need to try to unlock them on the server itself, you just need to send the Steam to the required package with the data ... Maybe you can create a temporary server that emulates the game or something like that? One such example is the dull browser game My Lands, I accidentally got an achievement in it and now I'm trying to get 100% for two years. The most interesting thing is that the achievements can be reset through SAM and they really all are blocked in the Steam, maybe you can get the chance to unlock them? I'm even ready to pay for it ...

How do you put together all the code to make the SAM app?

not unlocking any achievement

I dont know what's wrong, the software run just fine. ticking on the achievement doesnt do anything for me

When i open my GTA V game the achievements unlock again

I used some mod menus on my GTA Online that unlocked some achievements that I wanted to unlock "honestly", but when I use the software SAM and lock/ reset the achievements again, after I open the game the achievements are unlocked. Someone help me?

Looks like showing only one empty game.

I used 6.3 hotfix version of program and it missed some games.
It recognized all games I have but not showed some of them.

I downloaded latest version but I cannot see my games except one weird game which is not even available on Steam. Then I used game ID to add game, but it cannot add games but shows only one game per search. Something went wrong :(

Is there any quick method to add my own multiple game IDs in setting file?
I don't have any knowledge about coding, but if there is thing that I can modify with wordpad or notepad, I'll try it out !

I’ve seen conflicting reports about the validity of this program. Can anybody conclusively confirm if this program is virus-free or not? If it does have malware, could you also provide the name of it?

[Feature Request] One-button to unlock all achievements

I suggest having one-button to unlock all the achievements of all game that account owned. by ignore message "Sorry, but this is a protected achievement and cannot be managed with Steam Achievement Manager."

No games listed other than Spacewar

Using version 7.0.10 downloaded today (though issue was also present in some older version from gib.me/sam).

After a long delay, Spacewar shows up but no other games, and games can't be added (says I don't own them). Games would show up very quickly before.

Steam is running with the intended Steam user logged in. No games are running. Have completely exited Steam (both through Steam menu and Task Manager) and relaunched it with no change. Also rebooted my computer and saw no change. Tried downloading this newest version when this happened in the old version I had installed, no change.

Any other steps I can try?

How to Use?

I understand I sound dumb (I am not a big computer buff), but I have no idea how to use the files we download for the Achievement Manager from Gib. I have looked on the internet for any guides, but they all deal with the non-existing/removed website (gib.me/sam/). Can anyone follow me through the steps on how have the Manager to work?

Achievements not unlocking

So I used SAM to reset my Witcher 3 achievements and when I played the game again and tried to unlock an achievement, the achievement did not unlock. Any ideas how to fix this issue?

Games' name Mojibake

A flaw caused by Windows code pages.

Some Games' name contain unicode characters can not display correctly in Listview.

For example, any game's name contain™, and game appId 384190

↑Different code pages show different.

My Windows code page is 936.I fix this temporarily, but it can still lose some unicode chars because of encoding.

I think maybe it can directly display unicode.

i have some doubts please clear it.
i use sam for idling games only.
i never use it to unlock achievements or modding stats or resetting data.
while sam is running i never try to play any game.

These are my sam running credentials:

1. • first open steam client -change friend visible status from online to offline
2. • than open SAM.Picker.exe product version 6.3.0.987
3. • add 15 steam game app ids one by one - new windows box open
4. • include counter strike 1.6 & dota
5. • Leave process till 5 hours everyday & go to bed & sleep

Trojan

Windows Defender found a severe Trojan in this download Win32/Scrarev.C.

I do not notice any negative computer effects, but it has been quarantined.

Game list in picker no longer supports searching by typing into the list control due to virtualization

I remember in the older version 6.3, when i open SAM, I could type names to search for a game, but in the version 7.0, searching is not working for me. Does the new version still have this function?
