I just installed gnome-backgrounds-bitday and after selecting the timed background file thingy in Settings --> Background, it just shows a plain blue wallpaper. I've also logged out and back in to no avail.

I hope you can either fix this or assist me to fix it/help you fix it :)

When launching gnome-control-center you'd get:

(gnome-control-center:22983): background-cc-panel-WARNING **: Unknown Tag: _name

<_name> should be <name> as you're not translating the XML file.

I tried to install it on Ubuntu 20.04 using the files provided but the background stays the same.

This is a pretty simple addition that requires the installation of an XML file into /usr/share/gnome-background-properties or ~/.local/share/gnome-background-properties.
