Hi @angelochen960, all functions in node-geoip are synchronous, but not necessarily blocking. Since all lookups are done in RAM, a synchronous lookup will block on a RAM request, but this typically does not block the CPU (ie, the CPU can continue in the running state). The only exception is if you have very little RAM (<50MB) and the data is flushed to swap. In this case the CPU may block when an access causes a page fault and it then has to swap something else out and swap the data file back in to memory.

As long as you have more than 50MB free RAM, this should not be a problem. I've been running node-geoip in production with over 3 million daily lookups and no significant CPU usage.
