This is a personal project that attempts to improve upon the Real-Time Trading simulator app created during my bootcamp. It is incomplete due to Yahoo Stock API being taken down but the code far surpasses the coding practices of the bootcamp trading app. For example, usage of docker compose, exception handling etc.

Project dropped due to Yahoo API for stock data being no longer available.

Implement the yahoo API

• add in the yahoo api to call the stocks
• have a method to check if the stock ticker symbol is correct before persistent to the database

Research Alternative Stock API

• Yahoo API is no longer working
• find another API that works

User buy/sell stocks based on units and value amount.

• Account holder should be able to buy or sell stocks based on units held or value amount

Password should not be returned when doing a geting stocks

• maybe Json ignore can fix it

@Transactional

• Research @transactional so that everything is rollback if the full process isn't executed.
• Implement the @transactional annotation

Create Post functionality

• create all the functionality that is required to create a new investment account
• create a record that captures the request
• create the duplicate resource exception class

add additional Field for the customer

• name
• age etc. (DOB)

Create Resource not found Exception Class

• Create an exception package
• Create an initial exception class for Resources not found
• add the exception to the method in the service class

Add Stock Entity and all the associated classes

• add the stock entity

• add the one-to-many relationship to the account

Currency API

• implement currency API

Fix account balance accuracy due to rounding/casting when buying and selling stocks

• find a way to convert the currency to the smallest unit of currency
• or found a better way to track exact currency i.e. big decimals or use double
• research why double breaks again

Add Docker To Project

• create a docker Image for Postgres
• create trading_app database

Add flyway

• add flyway to project

Add delete functionality

• implemented the delete functionality

Add JDBC Template

• add JDBC template to the project with all the associate method calls.
• add in the row mapper to select all customers.

Create API For Retrieving Investment Account By Id

• create API to getInvestmentAccountByID
• add in all the relevant methods in each layer to retrieve the investment account by Id

@Where annotation to use JPA to filter stocks with the same ticker

Update investment account functionality

• create the associate methods to update customer
• create an exception class if nothing new has been updated

Add Queue for stock buy&sale

• add a queue for stock buying and sale to determine when the transaction goes through.
