Jealous

You are working on/have done all the things i wish I had time to do!
Good job, keep it up!
BTW - why did you not like greyhole, and how did you schedule rsync events?

Openflixr

If your still working on this a few thoughts ,
I'm currently using emby, with openmediavault for storage/backup.
Openflixr original had way too much stuff, would be cool if you could pick what you wanted to install.

But the concept was very cool. A media streamer all-in-one OS, simple install, able to store along, backups , ...

Pocket Pigrrl 3D Print Job

Garth,
Gary McLaughlin here. [email protected].
I ordered a 3D Print job of the Adafruit Pocket PiGrrl case from you on Jan. 5th for $16.99 plus $3 shipping. That was paid via Paypal to you.
I have yet to hear anything back from you on this order at all.
Can you please email me and let me know what the status is? I've promised this project to someone and I'm stuck here.
My regular email is [email protected]
Thanks,

Greetings! Question regarding your DIY dash button

Garth..thanks for documenting your projects so thoroughly. I had a question regarding battery power with the "Dash Button" you created. I am wondering re using the power supplies you've listed in your documentation, what sort of life you are getting for the button? A couple days? a week? I am trying to squeeze as much as I can no doubt with the use of a larger battery but am curious what sort of metrics you are getting with your power choice and battery life.

Thanks!

Question

If it's not much of a bother. Would you happen to have a skeleton of the wifi manager you used for the "esp8266 Dash Like IoT Button using IFTTT with Captive Portal WiFi Setup" project? I am trying to to make a sensor that sends data to an MIT app. Being your connection/interface works pretty flawlessly I just cant the push-button portion. I've found different methods but no one has an interface that allows you to connect and reset all from the same screen.

Look forward to hearing from you bud thanks.

Low battery LED lit all the time

Hi! Trying to achieve almost exactly what you're doing with reading the LBO state but as soon as I connect "anything" to the pin the Low Battery LED lights up. It measures close to the battery voltage but even touching the pin seems to be enough to pull it down making the LED come on. As far as I can tell from your photos yours is not on and it's connected directly to a GPIO. I can still read the state of it just fine, but it's annoying to have the LED on when the battery isn't actually low. After extensive searching I've not been able to find any solution to this, only others who've experienced the same thing. Have even tried changing the Pi DeviceTree config with no luck. Any tips or info would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers,
Espen

Ciclop firmware on Adafruit Metro

Hi Garth-
I also have a Printrbot Simple Metal and used your files to build my Ciclop scanner. I also purchased the Zum board from your store. Many thanks!

I purchased an Adafruit Metro based on your recommendation and when I discovered the Arduino Uno USB connector gets in the way of the Zum PCB

Question: How did you load the Horus firmware onto your Metro? I tried using the Mac version of the Horus app (in Preferences) to upload the hex file, but the Metro red light blinks when uploading completes, which I understand is an error.

The bq Arduino ino file is empty when I tried to use the Arduino IDE to upload the hex file onto the Metro. (I did succeed in adding the horus library to the Arduino IDE.)

Thanks.

Jumper positions on ZUM scan board

Hi Garth, I just received the circuit board and driver from you. Thanks for the quick service! Using your list, I got all the components for the board and have soldered everything. That list contained 3 jumpers, or shunts as it calls them. I'm a little confused about the stepper driver and the jumpers. In the picture on your blog, there are 3 jumpers on the Y side of the board above the capacitor(no stepper controller). There are no pictures of any jumper configuration on the X side, which is where the stepper driver is plugged in.
Are there any jumpers on the X side under the stepper driver? It seems there should be, but with only 3 jumpers in the list and three plugged into the Y side I'm wondering. I don't want smoke!

Component values for BQ Zum Scan

Hi Garth,

Are you able to confirm what the PTC fuse values should be for the BQ Zum Scan shield please?

I see you built one. I am putting some together in the UK, need to get the components right.

If you took a guess, I'd like to know what worked for you.

Thanks,

Alex

3D printing question

Garth,

Saw your page on 3D Hubs. Great work with that Pi-Cade. Seriously cool.

I'm looking to get advice from an experienced 3D printer pro about the pain points experienced with using printers.

I have a startup that's trying to make hardware that makes 3D printers less painful. Would love to get your feedback on what keeps you up at night using your MAKEiT Pro-M and any suggestions you'd have on product.

Thanks,
Dan

Shipping Retro Pigrrl Kits to Canada

Hi Garth, I stumbled across your page while trying to source the 3D printed components for the Pigrrl. I noticed your page shows the kit shipped for $20 USD, would you be willing to ship to Canada? I'm living in Ottawa, Ontario. I ask because I'm pretty confident the $3.00 shipping won't quite cover the expense.

PiGrrl case

I was wondering if you could print the PiGrrl with normal plastic action buttons? Only the start and select as Ninjaflex.

Thank you

3D Printing of PiGRRL 2 components

Hello,

About 2 years ago I purchased a PiGRRL package from you which allowed me to select different colours for the top (PLA), bottom (PLA), and buttons (ninjaflex). A friend and I are both looking to build the newer version of the PiGRRL and I see you've upgraded and expanded your site. If I provide the 3D files, would there be a way to set up a few colour options? I suppose I could process a number of separate orders, but I can only imagine its easier for you (and cheaper for me) to ship everything in a single batch.

Zum Scan board

HI,
I have been wanting to build my own scanner. I came across your site and really want to get my hands on a Zum Scan board. Do you sell just the board with out the components? Can I order one from where you had yours made? I would really appreciate your help.
Sincerely,
David

3D printing

Hi Garth-

You printed a small prototype piece for me last August. It was called 'shower bracket' and printed in black PLA, I believe. I ordered it through 3dhub at the time.

Now I have refined the design of the same piece and would like to reprint in a different material. I would still like it to be black, but would like a more durable material. My first piece has not degraded; but you said it probably would over time. (It will be very wet every day, because it holds the shower head in my master bathroom.) The PLA works fine, but I would like the final piece to look less like a 'homemade' project, so I'm wondering what material you would recommend. I have changed the design of the piece; it doesn't have the tiny details it did before.

I think I sent the project to you as an STL file last time. I tried attaching the new STL file here, but it was not accepted. How do I get that to you?

Thanks.

Meshtastic - IOS-App project request and issues

Dear Mr. Vander Houwen,

first I have to thank you for your work according to the Meshtastic-App.
Great effort from your side!

Let me introduce myself and our company shortly:
My name is Lukas Bucher, self employed since 2017. In december 2021 my IT-technician and me founded the company Jellynet GmbH. The company offers - beside optimization of biomass cogeneration plants - disaster protection for municipalities in Austria, Europe. Actually we are working on a failsafe variant of Meshtastic-application coupled with infrastructural transmitters.

My business partner/IT-technician developed an android-version of Jellynet/Meshtastic application with Jellynet-branding.
This application works very well.

While some testing scenarios we detected some issues with the IOS-App.
Unfortunately we are no specialists in programming IOS-systems, so that is one point why I am writing you.

  1. One problem we detected was, if you go into the channel-chat (not in the single-chat) in messages, then go back to the message-overview, then you jump again in channel-chat, the app freezes/has issues with jumping in the channel-chat again.

  2. Another issue we detected was, that the Meshtastic-device receives messages, but the IOS-App does not actualize it reliably.

  3. The third issue we detected was that very often the message "maximum repetitions reached" in red under the text-message appears. We can't really comprehend why this is happening.

We also determined, that the Android-combination with Meshtastic-devices are "higher-performing" than the IOS-combination. Can you confirm, that this might underlie a constraint of the bluetooth-connection?

The other point is: Are you possibly interested in working on an IOS-App with a branding for our company?

I would be very happy to hear from you. You are also welcome to contact me by e-mail if that seems more convenient to you!

Have a great day, stay healthy and motivated!

Best regards from mountainous Tyrol/Austria
