This seems a bit of a hackish way to handle lights. It seems that you're treating it much like a backlight -- i.e. on when the screen goes on, and off when the screen goes off. This can be handled by a standard lights HAL.

For 9.0, have you made any progress on the wake-up issue? I've run my own build for 9.0, and if its been sitting for a while, it simply won't come back on without a pull of the power plug. Aside from that, it seems to be pretty serviceable, aside from not handling h265 any better than Nexus Player -- i.e., hit or miss, max 720p. Presumably software decoding?

Attempts to install opengapps via twrp bails out with "ERROR 64: Wrong architecture". Using 7.1 arm tvstock.
