fabscan100's Issues

PLC 1.7

HI, thanks a lot for your work !
In PCL 1.7> toROSMsg() and fromROSMsg() are deprecated (can't compile).
You should use fromPCLPointCloud2() and toPCLPointCloud2() instead.
(and include <pcl/conversions.h> obviously)

Futhermore, in *.pro, you use PCL1.7 for Mac and PLC 1.6 for linux. (ubuntu deb is pcl 1.7)

Webcam not working (CameraBin error: Could not negotiate format)

I have installed the fabscan SW on my laptop with Ubuntu 12.10 (32bit) and followed the instructions.
When i start the application everything seems to be ok.
The control of arduino (turntable, laser) with the application is working without any problems.
Anyhow the applications is crashing when i try to start scanning or try to fetch picture manually.

After selection of WebCam in application (Logitech C270) i get the following messages from fabscan SW:
CameraBinImageEncoder::supportedResolutions()
()
QSize(-1, -1)
Supported Resolutions: "jpeg"
set camera: "/dev/video5"

And when i try to start scanning:
CameraBin error: "Could not negotiate format"

Unfortunately i was not able to fix this issue.
The logitech C270 cam is working in other ubuntu applications without any problem.
Any idea how to fix this issue with my webcam in fabscan for linux???

Laser wrong Pin definition in Arduino sketch

Hi All,

I figured out that at the FabScan Shield uses Pin A4 at Arduino Mega (and add pictures from UNO it looks the same). I have tryed to get started with it and the first time I run my config, nothing worked. After some readings here and in googlegroup, I have added a power supply (12V 10A) to the shield and the stepper started to work, but not the laser. After another reading I haven't find anything about this problem, only one post told something about an hardware issue at the diode in front of the laser on the shield. After checking the shield (followed the conductive path), I figured this mistake out in the arduino code.

I hope the information helps someone to solve their laser problems.

If this is not the right place for this post, please move it to the correct one.

PS.: Laser works also in Windows, but I can't start scanning. Fabscan crashes without a reason.

Cheers

Sven

missing package for QCamera

In order to be able to use the Webcam with Qt 5 (with the QCamera class) on ubuntu you need to install the packages:

libqt5multimedia5
and
libqt5multimedia5-plugins

(ubuntu 14.04, 64 Bit)

Build instructions for Ubuntu missing

The readme.md shows all the pre-requisites that need to be installed for Ubuntu, but does not show how to actually build fabscan on an Ubuntu machine.

PCL Install instructions incorrect for Ubuntu.

Following the PCL install instructions from the custom PPA on Ubuntu "Trusty" gives:

workshop@workshop:~$ sudo apt-get install libpcl-all
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
libpcl-all : Depends: libpcl-1.7-all but it is not going to be installed
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.

Feature Request: User configurable positions (option menu for fsdefines.h values)

I have individual turntable setup.
This means the position/size of the turntable, webcam and laser is different to the "stock" fabscan.
I also think that depending on the object to be scanned it makes sense to modify the position.

What i already know is ...
... the positions from the "default" fabscan:
https://github.com/francisengelmann/FabScan100/blob/master/measures.png
and
... the defines file:
https://github.com/francisengelmann/FabScan100/blob/master/qtTest/fsdefines.h

Feature Request:
Would it be possible to add menu to the SW in order to make the values configurable from the user.
Maybe also with "load defaults" Button. I think this feature would be really very helpful for all the "customizers" in the world.

Would be great if this could be updated in the following releases.

Thanks
Christian

FabScan100 not working on Mac OS X 10.9 (Mavericks)

I tried to start FabScan100 SW, every version from FabScan100.4 to FabScan100.9,
and on OS X 10.9 it´s not starting. Without error message.
Could someone please upgrade FabScan100 software? We need it for our fablab to scan small objects.

support model-servo for movable laser instead of stepper motor

I don't know if the movable laser is already full suported, but probably it would be a good idea to support model-servos optional to stepper motors.

Advantages:

1.) Servomotors working with absolute positions, stepper-motors only with relative positions
2.) Servomotors are cheaper
3.) Servomotors are repositioning automatically
4.) Servomotors need less power

turntable is driving wrong every 8. scan-step

I'm using a fabcube, without a turnable laser, and found out that the turntable is driving in the opposit direction every 8. scan-step and then (holding the position/driving back) for 2 or 3 steps.

Because of that, I cannot scan objects in a correct way. For example, a scanned cuboid is more like a rectangle with rounded surfaces.

The software is build from the repository on Ubuntu 14.04.
