oec's Issues

Cope with time as well as place restrictions in Location

ScraperWiki has an employee who has to be in a location to work but only 2 days a week.

We've dealt with this with a monkey patch at the moment adding this text to the end of the location section:

"For the avoidance of doubt, we may not require you to work in Liverpool more than 2 days of any week. Not withstanding whatever else this contract may say. (This paragraph is a variation from the OEC 1.0 standard agreed between the parties)"

And in the "Range of alternative locations" box putting "Liverpool (you will not be required to work here more than 2 days of any week)"

Confidentiality vague about open source

This is a bit confusing for a company with open source stuff.

"Unless we agree otherwise, your licence to retain and use copies of any such material is limited to the period of your employment with us. "

The earlier part about keeping trade secrets secret makes more sense. I guess it should say something about "unless there is another license you have the rights to it under".

Intellectual property rights

For protection of the employer, do we need anything about IP ownership (for everyone but for programmers esp.)?

I think FD and I discussed this and it wasn't necessary.

However, it still might need to be there, as sometimes investors need it.

Part-time "only X days a week" should be built in

You can currently easily reduce the number of working hours in the day, but not number of working days in the week.

Two specific things:
a) extending "daily hours: variable, to also let us say days worked in the week
b) altering "holiday entitlement" for that case, as it is pro-rata at the moment, which is confusing (esp. as Salary isn't pro-rata) - realise this is more difficult
