Hello, I thought I was receiving the following error only when uncommenting js components in the config file, however this error throws even after somehow getting a successful npm start to launch normally. The error is constant, but sometimes running npm start is successful. I've included two npm debug logs before and after updating node. I had another error though during the node update in which is stated jekyll_foundation couldn't be upgraded. New to debugging issues like this but really want to use this build setup. I have already learned so much just from playing with it so far. Thanks in advance.

When executing line 260, I'm getting this error:
Foundation.MediaQuery._init();
foundation.core.js:266 Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property '_init' of undefined
Perhaps it's something I'm doing wrong (I feel a little over my head, as I'm working with Foundation's JS for the first time), but I fail to comprehend where an error like this would be coming from. window.Foundation
also doesn't seem to have a property of MediaQuery, though...
It looks significantly different to me. For example, in Zurb's 6.4.3 the x-y grid is the default, while in jekyll-foundation, the flex grid is default. There are other differences. I'm no expert, so it may be irrelevant. Just asking.
I'm getting an error. I think it's linux related.
`Error in plugin 'run-sequence(watch)'

Any ideas?
After a fresh install following the docs here on the repo I have uncommented all of the foundation components and js as needed. On npm start
I receive the following error :
Error in plugin 'sass'
Message:
assets/scss/foundation/_settings.scss
Error: File to import not found or unreadable: util/util
Parent style sheet: /Users/bshallenberger/Desktop/Project-HQ/jsimp/assets/scss/foundation/_settings.scss

After searching the foundation issues and stack overflow I've found that I need to include the path to the bower components foundation files in the gulp sass plugin . Following this example I added changed the lines starting on line 13 in the sass.js gulp task file to:
return gulp.src(config.src)
.pipe($.sourcemaps.init())
.pipe($.sass({
includePaths: 'assets/vendor/foundation-sites/scss'
})
.on('error', $.sass.logError))
.pipe(autoprefixer(config.compatibility))
This fixes the initial error but results in the following:
Error in plugin 'sass'
Message:
assets/vendor/foundation-sites/scss/util/_color.scss
Error: Undefined variable: "$foundation-palette".
on line 45 of assets/vendor/foundation-sites/scss/util/_color.scss
>> @if map-has-key($foundation-palette, primary) {
------------------^
I feel if I continue to move things around I may just be duplicating the foundation files between vendor
and scss
, which would seem to defeat the purpose of this build process. This leads me to think I may have something else wrong here but I can't nail it down. Anybody have this problem with the current version or able to point me in the right direction?
_pages/404.md: The Google 404 widget shows a link to /sitemap/ which doesn't exist.
Google also recommends using both: A sitemap for search engines (contained in this package) and one for the visitors.
Anyone has a solution for a nice looking sitemap?
How can we use util-map.json smart in the gulpfile / gulp workflow?
I've been uncommenting the files as mentioned in the other issue that was raised but for some reason the I'm still getting a Reference Error saying that $ is not defined
which I'm guessing is jQuery not being properly loaded or called within the project.
Let me know if I haven't described the issue well enough to be addressed.
From the first image I guess you can tell that, I'm not quite sure my CSS is being loaded up properly either. One thing I've changed from the project since following all setup instructions is that I've merged the bower-components folder contents into the vendor folder. Maybe this might have triggered the issue?
When getting started, I had to change plugins
to plugins_dir
and add the jekyll-paginate
gem in _config.yml
.

Should I PR this?
I believe Jekyll-Foundation is suffering from this bug: foundation/foundation-sites#10363. Which causes Foundation.MediaQuery.current to be empty in certain import circumstances.
I'm trying to include per-post js/css/scss via the front matter (like so https://mattgemmell.com/page-specific-assets-with-jekyll/) and I'm not sure the best method to keep the files from being compiled into the app.css and all.js but still have them copied into the _site directory. I'm assuming it's not by messing around with how the vendor folder is handled. (Even better if I could still get any unique assets compiled and minified.)
I thought this might be related to a typo on index.html line 35:
'/seite:num'
^ Should this be '/site:num'
or '/page:num'
?
I've tried both. But the page 1 URL (when on other pages) is still set as http://127.0.0.1.xip.io:3000/blog/page:num
.
While in development, I noticed that the (non-production, unminified) all.js file weighs in at about 690KB. This includes stock jQuery and one small plugin library (contributes 4K) with everything else including Foundation core commented out.
Un-minified jQuery seems to weigh in about 260K or so at about 9200 lines of code.
Checking the combined all.js source in my browser, it is also more or less 9200 lines of code yet the file size is well over double...does all that extra bulk come from some kind of temporary source-mapping for development mode?
I know that the production step compresses it greatly, I am mostly just curious about whats going on under the hood?
Thx very much for the starter, first time I've employed a Gulp build process :D
Decided to move from Octopress (jekylll based) to pure jekyll. Since I use foundation 6 in rails thought I'd try this version.
Got everything up fairly fast except code highlighting. I has all the rouge container tags but the source is not processed and ends up with what looks like paragraphs in a gray box.
I may be missing something, but not sure what
if I change the $primary-color (or any other color) in _settings.scss, it remains the same default blue/grey/etc. If I move the settings file down the page on foundation.scss, I can get my custom css (in theme.scss) to show my edited value, but still not the links, buttons, etc.
No errors.
I should note that if I change other values in _settings.scss, like font sizes, those changes take effect.
Thanks to @daneclarkcollins for reporting this. Stumbled on this error, too.
Edit: This doesn't happen, when using Foundation 6.0.6
This is due to tabindex=1
which has to be written as tabindex="1"
Just opened a Pull Request for this.
Foundation.MediaQuery is undefined in all.js.
It gives a Chrome console error message that reads:
Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property '_init' of undefinedfoundation @ all.js:5(anonymous function) @ all.js:5
We are attempting to deploy using dokku, but it will require some custom buildpacks to handle the yarn/npm parts of the build. Has anyone gone down this route yet?

Where do I fix this?
I couldn't find anything in the main source files
Upgrading to Foundation 6.4.0 seems to break a few things. Anyone have any idea why?
Trying to publish a branch to the repo, getting this error message:

What do you think about moving this package to a GitHub organisation?
I think it would improve the maintaining of the project and it could be developed in the right direction, doing stuff that you - the users - need.
Any naming suggestions for the organisation?
Since the package was updated to Foundation 6.4 by @kculmback and tested by @huphtur I suggest them to be members of the new organisation.
I follow the wiki then served it locally by run npm start
, but it won't initialize Foundation. Why?
I though there was a problem on the local machine, so I deployed it on Netlify on the following address: http://inspector-zebra-64764.netlify.com/kitchen-sink/ (Source Repo)
The result is the same.
Example: https://www.thevantageproject.com/assets/js/all.js
I see lots of characters that fill 300 lines starting with sourceMappingURL=data:application/json;charset=utf8;base64,eyJ2ZXJzaW9uIjozLCJzb3VyY2VzIjpbImpxdWVyeS5qcyIsImZvdW5kYXRpb24uY29yZS5qcyIsImZvdW5kYXRpb24udXRpbC5tZWRpYVF1ZXJ5LmpzIiwiZm91bmRhdGlvbi51dGlsLnRyaWdnZXJzLmpzIiwiZm91bmRhdGlvbi5zbW9vdGhTY3JvbGwuanMiLCJmb3VuZGF0aW9uLnN0aWNreS5qcyIsImZvdW5kYXRpb24ubWFnZWxsYW4uanMiLCJhcHAuanMiXSwibmFtZXMiOlsiZ2xvYmFsIiwiZmFjdG
Any idea on what is causing this? And what this is?
Sorry I am very new so if this is a easy fix I apologize. When I run NPM start I keep getting these errors.

23 error Make sure you have the latest version of node.js and npm installed.
23 error If you do, this is most likely a problem with the jekyll-foundation package,
23 error not with npm itself.
23 error Tell the author that this fails on your system:
23 error gulp
23 error You can get information on how to open an issue for this project with:
23 error npm bugs jekyll-foundation
23 error Or if that isn't available, you can get their info via:
23 error npm owner ls jekyll-foundation
23 error There is likely additional logging output above.
24 verbose exit [ 1, true ]
I am using rvm so I don't know if that is effecting it
Thank you for any help you can offer.
What is the proper way to safely update Foundation 6 within the repo?
Running jekyll by itself will preserve files and directories in my _sites
folder that I've identified in my _config.yml
using keep_files
. Running any of the yarn tasks will clean out my _sites
directory and ignore keep_files
.
Am seeing the error when visiting the default installation site
You have to gem install jekyll-paginate and jekyll-sitemap manually before doing bundler install.
