Usage

The version

Before 0.9.0 (included), the naming convention for versions was x.y.z. But it seems that the contents of the Kotlin compiler may find changes with each version, and such version numbers do not reflect the corresponding Kotlin version, and may lead to some confusion as a result.

Therefore, starting after 0.9.0, versions will be named in the form $Kotlin-$plugin, e.g. 2.0.20-0.9.1. The first half is the version of Kotlin used for the build, while the second half is the version of this plugin.

If the version is less than or equal to 0.9.0, you can refer to this comparison table:

Note

I haven't documented in detail the compiler plugin compatibility between each Kotlin version. From my memory and guess, Kotlin versions have a higher probability of incompatibility when minor is added (e.g. 1.8.0 -> 1.9.0), and a smaller probability of incompatibility when patch is added (e.g. 1.9.21 -> 1.9.22).

Converting Types for JS API?

There are certain types that JS doesn't work well with Kotlin i.e. if you have a function that returns a List<String>. It'd be nice if there was a way to automatically convert Kotlin collections to their correct JS counterparts.

List to Array
Map to JS Object
I'm sure there are others.

Gradle warning with beta version: 2.0.20-Beta1-0.9.1

Just a warning I saw happening with the latest beta version:

When including the plugin id("love.forte.plugin.suspend-transform") version "2.0.20-Beta1-0.9.1, this Gradle warning is shown:

A compileOnly dependency is used in targets: Kotlin/JS.
Dependencies:
    - love.forte.plugin.suspend-transform:suspend-transform-annotation:2.0.20-Beta1-0.9.1 (source sets: jsMain)

Using compileOnly dependencies in these targets is not currently supported, because compileOnly dependencies must be present during the compilation of projects that depend on this project.

To ensure consistent compilation behaviour, compileOnly dependencies should be exposed as api dependencies.

Example:

Build error since updating to version 0.9.0 and Kotlin 2.0.0

Hi,

since updating to Kotlin 2.0.0 and the suspend-transform plugin, a issue came up.
It worked with id("love.forte.plugin.suspend-transform") version "0.6.0" and Kotlin 1.9.21.

But when upgrading to Kotlin 2.0.0 and id("love.forte.plugin.suspend-transform") version "0.9.0", I get an error at build for this file: https://github.com/walt-id/waltid-identity/blob/main/waltid-libraries/waltid-crypto/src/commonMain/kotlin/id/walt/crypto/keys/oci/OCIKeyRestApi.kt

The error is:

The line number and character seems to indicate the error happens at companion object { of the file?
