  This SMC has been included due to the lack of an SMT that covers general data.

Context

• In the "Generic Frame for Technical Data for Industrial Equipment in Manufacturing" (IDTA 02003), a guideline for the creation of submodel templates for technical data of assets, for example, the SubmodelElementCollection ProductClassifications is described. Would not be a classification of assets also in AssetInformation usefull for every kind of Asset?
• There was an discussion on 2023-11-23 in the IDTA workstream AAS:
  A similar request was rejected in the past
  Alternatives:
  • use assetType not only for asset IDs but also for classification
  • add semanticId to AssetInformation (inherit from HasSemantics)
  • no change, assetClassification should be part of technical data or other submodel
  • add new attribute "assetClassification" with type Identifier and Cardinality 0..1
  • add new attribute "assetClassification" with type Identifier and Cardinality 0..*
  • generic key-value pairs (additional to specificAssetIds)

Notes: performance/simplicity of API versus rich metamodel. Discovery topic, will be further discussed in Discovery TF
Decision: no change in metamodel

To realize the classification by means of a SMT is only one of the listed options. It might be that an other option should be preferred. At the moment there is the decision not to change the metamodel.

• Ergonomic data for a workstation (station according RAMI) in a production environment. This data can be help for the assignment of employees to workstations and to reduce burdens from employees.

• There is an IDTA SMT in development called "Workstation Worker Matching Data" with a SMC "Ergonomic Workstation Profile".
  This SMC has been included due to the lack of an SMT that covers ergonomic data.
